This group is dedicated to creating accurate minifig-scale models of actual medieval castles (c. 1000s - 1300s), predominately from England and France, although others of the same era from elsewhere on the Continent qualify as well. Special exceptions to this rule exist, among them:
- David Macaulay's CASTLE
The point is that any fiction or modern-day example should be true to medieval historicity.
We chose the name BRICKmaris, a play on Edward I's most famous (unfinished) castle: Beaumaris, as it is considered by many historians to be the greatest example of castle building at the height of its usefulness.
The period we are focusing on is after the period of Roman rule, and before the widespread use of gunpowder rendered castles obsolete (save as bragging rights for the gentry).
