So we get an extention for posting? I have mine done but I still need to find time to take pics of it. Permalink
I'd be happy to judge again, since I couldn't build a MOC. I haven't had any time to build this month, with finals and everything, but I'm almost certainly going to have time to enter next month. Permalink
Alright! I'm sorry it's taken this long for me to judge, MOCpages has been incredibly uncooperative lately. So, without further ado, here are my scores:
Looks great! The body isn't perfect, but it's easily recognizable as Hitmontop.
Overall, not bad. I only have two gripes: the feet seem too small, and the face is too flat. I love the look of the top of the head, though; it's so smooth!
The head is superb, as well as the arms and tail. Excellent parts usage!
The scale is different, the techniques you used are different, and the fact that you made a face is different!
The pics look fine, and you're the only one who had the mandatory comparison picture!
BONUS POINTS – Vignette: 3/5
Nothing overly special, but it definitely adds to the presentation.
Overall 31/35 + 3 = 34/35
I'm really sorry about this, but I can barely see any resemblance. The colors, as you mentioned, are completely wrong; the body is supposed to be blue, and in your MOC it's red. The head and legs are gray instead of brown, and the feet are brown instead of blue. Moreover, many details such as the spikes on the feet and tail are missing. Understandable at this scale, but a larger MOC would have been better for details. Lastly, there is no face in your MOC. Again, a larger scale would have helped here.
The MOC looks pretty good, not blocky and random. With the right color scheme it would have looked fantastic!
The body, legs, and arms are great for the scale! The head and feet need improvement, though.
(By far) The smallest scale of the bunch! The head is rather similar to Cody's (though, to be fair, yours was posted first).
The pics look good, a little dark. I have no idea what clone troopers have to do with Hitmontop, though! Would have been a 4/5, but without the required comparison pic, I'm afraid I have to take off a point.
No spikes on the feet or tail, and no head! Also, the head (with no face…) is gray instead of brown, and the arms and tail are tan. It doesn't look bad with the brown legs, but some consistency would be nice! However, the MOC is unmistakably Hitmontop.
Looks very fluid, save the head. Even though there are no spikes on the feet, your MOC has the best looking legs out of all of them! The scale is great, and the angles of the robot arms are perfect!
The legs and body are nearly perfect; they look fantastic! The tail and arms are pretty simplistic (and should be the same color as the legs), but they work. The head is rather lacking, though; I feel that you could have done more at this scale.
Basically the same head as Zen's, it's even the same color! The rest of the MOC is completely unique, though.
The pic(s) you have are good, but they're of almost the exact same position! Also, you only have TWO pictures, and that's including the main photo! Not to mention the fact that a comparison pic is nowhere to be seen. Sorry, but I find the presentation to be extremely lacking with this MOC.
Great job everyone! These two months have been rather slow; June is nearly over, and there hasn't been any sort of voting for the next contest. I'm hoping activity will resume in this group, it's a really fun way to share our love for MOCs! Please continue to comment and build, and keep this group going! Permalink
Resemblance 8 - Unmistakeable. all defining details are represented with varying success. The ball hands don't quite work in my opinion. The body's a lot bigger than it should be.
Flow 7 - Looks a bit inorganic. The shins extending past the knee is perhaps the worst part.
Creativity 3 - The triangles for ear flaps are very nice
Originality - 4 Both other entries are minifig scale. Completely different set of techniques and building style
Presentation - 5 Wide variety of photos and poses
Vig - 1 It's there, but it's pretty basic and doesn't quite convey the effect it's supposed to.
Resmblance 5 - I can tell what it's supposed to be, but if I didn't know it was a pokemon, I might think the tail was the head and it was some strange alien life form. The problem is that your hitmontop has no head :(
Flow 6 - Seems like a bunch of parts to me, but you can tell it's supposed to be a creature.
Creativity 2 - Using the torso piece upside-down was clever, but the overall design is a little, um, obvious? Arms for arms. Legs for legs. Kudos for going minifig scale, though.
Originality 1 - Pretty durn similar to another other entry.
Presentation 4 - Adequate and clear, but a few more angles would be appreciated.
Resemblance 4 - My first thought, if I didn't know it was Hitmontop, would be a samurai. The colors are the main problem, which you admit, but it does detract from it a great deal. The clip does sort of resemble a head from some angles, but it's not great as one.
Flow 9 - The flow is fantastic. This isn't lego, it's a living being. It's very simple but it works.
Creativity 2 - The pieces used are not common, but they also aren't very much like the limbs they're supposed to represent.
Originality 1 - Not significantly different from Cody's.
Presentation 4 - Photos are a little dark, but there are plenty and they're clear enough
