And then there's Mister Forgetful, aka Pony Lord7. He did build an entry, even uploaded it to the group, but he just didn't feel like linking to it here in the thread. He wants everyone to go hunting for it.
But that's not all... we also have erin ch. moaning some pitiful excuse about slow internet, posting his link past the deadline. Might want to rethink that "wait 'til the last possible second to get my entry in" strategy.
I was going to DQ them both outright, but instead will leave that up to their groupmates. Either score the builder's entry as usual, or vote to disqualify him. All it takes is one vote for disqualification, and that guy is gone.
Carefully consider each case -- they're not a package deal, you can let one of them slide and boot the other.
Well, here ya’ go:
Sam Ellis: The rowboat is great, and I love that it isn’t minifig scale. Like Shannon said, the water could be better, but I know you couldn’t do any better because of your part limitations. I like your take on the category, so you get a 4 from me.
Justin R: I like the castle theme; I always have a soft spot for it. I also like how the orcs are hiding from the guy, and to the traveler the path seems innocent. The build seems basic, but a pretty solid job. You get a 3.4.
Stewart Delahay: Great build. The pics are good, it fits the category well, and it’s funny. My only nitpick is the different colored clams. You get a 4.6 from me.
Erick ch: I’m not going to vote to send you away, because I know how slow MOCpages can be. Your build though doesn’t really do it for me. It’s colorful, but I just don’t see how it fits the category. You get a 2.5 from me.
Pony Lord 7: I like the ship and your take on the category. However the pics could be better and you never posted your link to our group, so I’m docking you some points. You get a 2.5 from me also. Permalink
Right, first of all I won’t ask for anybody who posted to be DQ’ed – THIS round. Erin at least posted an entry and Pony Lord7 had an entry in, added it to the pool but just neglected to put a link up. I will mark down accordingly though.
But as of next round, if I’m still in, it’s cutthroat. No mercy for stepping outside the rules. My advice is do not leave it until the last hour before deadline to post, I can’t see any advantage in it. Two rounds in there should be no excuse. The same for not posting at all. I would be interested to see if Rubik puts his entry up anyway if it was just the uploader not working, as surely that means that the build was complete and the photos done?
Enough moaning, on to the points!
Erin ch. – 2.5 points. In the immortal words of the chief mankinder “You control the action”, but here we could have done with you controlling the action for us. A little commentary would have gone a long way as I, like others, found it a bit confusing. Mom and Junior spy dad through the library shelves, it looks like Dad is with another woman, but it turns out to be a man? I think? Nice shelves and book cart, interesting effect of looking between the books, but ultimately a bit confusing and late.
Pony Lord7 – 2.5 points. I applaud the sentiment involved but the interpretation of the category is a bit loose for me. That aside, it’s a tidy vic viper with interesting shapes. The problem is that the outpouring of tribute to nnenn means that there are hundreds of exemplary VV’s being posted prior to Brickworld and so there’s a lot of good to compare against – perhaps unfairly. The lack of link cost you slightly too.
Justin R – 3.5 points. A very solid build and interpretation of the category. You played to what seems to be your strength (Castle) and posed the photos well so that the ambush is slowly revealed to us. Individualising the orcs increased the interest, but just a little more variety in the landscaping would have really pushed this one on. Good job.
Sam Ellis – 4.2 points. When I had a look at your page (Yes, I scouted my opponents!) I put ‘Sculptural builds’ next to your name and so I was pleased to see a different scale from you (the only one of us not to use minifigs). Really nice boat, like the ‘tip of the iceberg’ interpretation of the category, just wish you had not lost patience/ run out of parts with the watery base as it would have really finished it off. Love the eerie calm feel to it though.
Legolord – 4.5 points. Nice re-work of the market village parts (a lot of that light blue was used in my MOC too!) and very detailed landscaping. A dark, twist in the tale interpretation (a man after my own heart) and hidden elements are good too. Minor niggles would be perhaps the landscaping is a bit too busy and the hidden cellar/ cave looks quite plain by comparison – also the exposed backs of the LURPs and BURPs used in the base here don’t help.
Well that’s it for now. Thanks for the scores and good luck to all. Permalink
Quoting Pony Lord7
Sam Ellis 2 because I feal like it
Stuart Delahay 3 just average
Justin R. 1 for using non-lego parts
LegoLord 5 just plain old awsome
erin ch. 4.3 because I accidently hit those numbers
Rubik you forgot
Pony Lord7 4.5 Good build but blurry Photo's
Roach 456 you also forgot.
Agreed. You try and give someone some leeway for their efforts and they just act.... well it's his perogative to mark as he wants but for 'because I feal(?) like it' and 'because those are the numbers I hit' I might just change my mind about the DQ. I'll mull it over for a few hours. Permalink
I also am a little diappointed in the fooling around here. Sure it isn't MOColympics but this is still a pretty up there competition.
Pony Lord eh? I'll have to remember that. Nobody disses my friend Sam and gets away with it. I will PUNISH the next round you and I are together. I am just begging Young to put us together. Watch out. Permalink
Here are my scores;(PS, thanks guys for understanding, that day the build was already done, but because of bad connection, it took forever to upload the pictures. You guys rock!!!)
Sam Ellis: At first I thought I didn't get, but when figuring out scores I realized that the only flaw was the water, Its probably not your fault the lack of pieces, so ill give you a 4.9
Justin R.: The concept is very easy to understand, and not extremely confusing like most of my MOCs, but the build was too simple, plus the studded water was a negative, so your score is,drum roll, 3.5
LegoLord.:Seriously, I should clap loudly in your honor, that was great. You obviously put tremendous amounts of effort into it, 5
Stuart D.: This was one of my favorite ones, the take on the category is so true, some times you don't know what you pay for, especially with sushi bars, there was this scandal about this sushi bar that used endangered species of fish that made you go to the bathroom, woah, a little of topic there, 5
Ponylord7: The colors for the ship were fantastic, but agreeing with other people, it wasn't very original, so a 4.5
I think that's everyone who build something, peace! Permalink
