How many studs are there per foot??
Join to comment
started a new group called 'Only BIG spaceships' and I want to limit it to ships bigger than 3 foot long. Everyone here seems to quote the stud number for length. What is the stud conversion... how many studs per foot of actual length?
Thanks, Zac

a 4 stud piece is approximately 1 inch so 12x4=48 studs per foot and 144 studs for 3 feet. I warn you I don't have actual measurements for you these are only educated guesstimates. On the small scale it's close enough. I'm not sure how much variance will arise on larger scales.
Update: a 4 stud piece measures in at exactly 1 and 1/4 inch. so my earlier numbers are off. Each single stud square is roughly .3125 of an inch, so to make it 3 feet long... 115 studs if I did my math correctly.

I put 115 studs into a spreadsheet I made for calculating these things, and it spat out 36.22 inches - very close to three feet.

I should point out that a SHIP (Seriously Huge Investment in Parts) is generally considered 100 studs or more, if you are interested in going with a stud measurement rather than conventional units. The SHIP designation has been a common way of describing large spaceships for years, and using a stud measure is also convenient because it avoids the whole US vs Metric thing.
