This is our next new contest for all you new guys and older members. Sorry I could not get this up earier, I hade finals for my first semester of college, and everyone gave project assignment things. Anywho...
The Useless Piece Contest. Everyone should have at least some piece that is seemingly useless and has never used in a MOC before. Well, we want to see you use it. It can be anything from an Ugly Rock Piece to a Viking Ship hull to that crazy looking Skull Head used to make Squidward's house. Or, it can even be a piece that's only been in a very srange color and in limited quantity that you've thought you would never be able to use in anything, like trans-neon orange dragon wings, what the heck are you supposed to do with those things?!
You will be scored with a total of 25 points.
Oddness of the piece(s): 5
How uncommon is it? How weird is it?
Use of the piece(s): 10
Did you use the piece for it's intended purpose, or did you really think outside the box?
Focus of the piece(s): 5
Does it stand out in the MOC? Is it the main structure? What part in the MOC does it play?
Build Quality: 5
Does it actually look like anything?
A total of 25 points.
Okay, so now the details.
Your MOC has to be a NEW Creation to MOCpages because there is a time frame.
There are NO size restrictions, so you could make something that takes up half you desk.
There is no link required to come back to the group, but if you would like to practice using HTML, you are more than welcome.
There is still a required link though. It is to go to Bricklink, to your exact piece being used. This gives reference to rarity, function, oddness if it is within a build and we cannot see the whole thing, and stuff like that. NOTE: It would be very helpful if you did not try and do this in the Introduction portion, HTML does not work there. It would also be nice to be a working link so there is no copying and pasting.
The contest will begin now and end at 11:59 PM Friday, December 28th, 2012. Your creation needs to be here by then.
Finally, add a link in this conversation to your entry when you are ready to turn it in. Just adding it to the group's pool of creations is not very helpful because sometimes more than one contest is happening at the same time, and we aren't requiring a specific title for your entry.
Ooh, sounds good. Actually, this is a really good idea. Luckily I have the Durmstrang ship, which is made almost completely of those parts. I'm assuming that we can use more than one of the "useless parts"? Permalink

Yes, you can use more than one of the same part, and/or multiple different useless parts. Permalink

I'll see if I can use an Inika Mask (like Nannan did) in a System MOC.
If that fails, I'll try something else.
Yeah, BIONICLE Parts like masks can work in System stuff. If someone were to make some kind of BIONICLE thing, they better find a pretty good piece or two because those pieces are not my expertise. Permalink

So many contests going on right now! :P I might manage to squeeze in something for this one, though; it sounds interesting! I'm sure I have plenty of useless pieces I haven't used in ages...
I think I'm in three-four other contests :)
I need to stop signing up for every one I see... Permalink
I probably won't be able to enter as I'm on vacation in another state.
I could, in theory, build something with my cousins' (quite large) LEGO Collection, but there are no guarantees that I will do so. Permalink
I don't know what we will do with this group. Unfortunately, it is on it's last legs and breath. However, brickunion has messaged my through YouTube about an upcoming contest of his. I have agreed to help out, although I do also need to try building something while I still can, and hopefully with a singular contest in a group, there will be a chance for a good turnout.
Even with inviting new people, nobody seems to be interested in a group for contests. Permalink
Perhaps the timing was the problem for this one. I was in a lot of other contests, and I suppose people were busy.
Perhaps inviting even more random people and being more active in conversations and such could help us get more participants... Permalink
