First Round
 Group admin
The opening round is tentatively scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 30th. Everyone has until Saturday, September 29th, to sign-up. Open spots in the field of 64 will be filled with the highest scoring alternates, so if you received a score from the MOC Olympics Round 1 and are not listed in the MIT field of 64, make sure you sign up in the alternates thread.

Thank you.~H

Hello contestants! First, we have some bad news. Unfortunately the sign-ups (including alternates) fell short of 64 contestants. The good news? We will be moving forward with the Top 32 instead!

Due to a long and stressful week, I am still working out the match-ups and categories. They will, however, be ready and posted this afternoon, so stay tuned and good luck!~H

Welcome to Round 1 of the 2012 MIT!

Dates and Times:
Round 1 starts NOW and will end at 11:59 pm, MOCPages time on Wednesday, October 10th. No entries will be accepted after this time. If you do not have your entry posted AND added to the group by the deadline, you will forfeit your match and your opponent will advance.

Your entry must be titled: MIT Round 1 "you" vs "Your opponent." You may title it anything you wish after that but that must be the opening of the title.

Category description:
Near the TOP of the entry you must state what category you are playing in. Feel free to simply copy and paste your category from this thread or type in the title of the category, your choice.

Preferably near the top of your post, you MUST have a WORKING link to your opponent’s page. If you post first then linking to their homepage is fine. If you post second, please link to their entry. You do not HAVE to change the link to their entry after they post (if you post first). That is your choice. You do NOT have to have a working link back to the main MIT group. You’re free to add it if you wish but it is NOT required.

You must add your entry to the group pool. Once you add it to the group, that's it, it's OURS and NO changes may be made. We were easy on you in round one in regards to changing text but from THIS POINT FORWARD, NO changes may be made. If you make a change and we find out about it, you will be disqualified and your opponent will advance to the next round. We STRONGLY suggest that you get feedback from others and make any needed changes BEFORE adding it to the group. The judges will NOT look at it until it's added to the group.

Once you and your opponent have posted and added your entries to the group, the judges will vote on the MOCs. There will be three judges for each match-up (divided by the brackets). You must receive 2 out of 3 votes to advance to the next round. The judges are NOT required to write full, detailed comments with their votes (but may if they choose to). The only thing required by a judge is which MOC they are voting for. Each judge’s decision is final.

Bracket I

Master Shifu Leo J vs Raviel Ze Mocist
Telivishun is gooder then reeding! Take your favorite book or classic piece of literature and turn it in to a modern television show. It can be a sitcom, reality show, soap opera, cop-drama...whatever you want!

Justin Knelsen vs Lego Builders
End of the World! Build a MOC depicting how the world we know might come to it's untimely end.

Jackson Williams vs Jelle Heijne
Zombie Bunker! When the Zombie Apocalypse arrives, only the prepared will survive! Build a bunker/shelter that will keep you and your friends/family safe from the brain-eaters. Remember, safety is not your only concern!

Bracket IV

Bob the inconceivably invincible vs Luke Smith
Classic Toys! There are many classic games and toys that have withstood the tests of time, from the Slinky to Lite Brite, Stretch Armstrong to Hungry, Hungry Hippos. Choose your favorite classic toy or game and reproduce it in LEGO form.

Garret Smith vs Michae{
Wild, Wild, West! Build a scene from the old west. It could be a shootout at noon, a prospector panning for gold, a brawl in a decide, as long as it's in the old, American West style.

Justin R. vs Mr. Boston
Darwin Awards! There's a thousand ways to die and an equally high number of 'geniuses' to figure each of them out. Show us the most ridiculous way a person might meet their maker.

Chris Stone vs MisterLego
Life Aquatic! Build a MOC that is set underwater. Any 'underwater' theme will do.

Those are your match-ups; direct any questions to the Questions thread. Good luck and happy building!~H

Those contestants in Bracket IV that received a vote from El Barto, please disregard. Your judges are Yuri Fassio, Moodswim and Chris Phipson. It was an error, because judges are human too. =) ~H
