Some of the faction threads are becoming congested. Rainos and Mythron, for example, are juggling plans for collaborative builds, strategizing for the current UC, and general conversation. Rainos goes farther still with discussion on new locations, new clans, possible enrollment, and whatever else happens into our heads. Important information is swallowed in a sea of text. Our factions could use multiple topics each. What I'm saying is, this group is big and busy enough - why not branch out into groups for each faction?
Hear me out, I'm not saying anything too crazy. The satellite pages won't be able to hold their own challenges except for when it comes their time to hold a rogue challenge, and even that will be based in the main group. All of the major threads can also be linked both ways to and from the main group, so no one will really be isolated from the LOM collective. Aside from that, here are the advantages:

- More groups means more publicity and more members, especially if we allow MOCs just beyond the borders of LOM into the faction groups (although there will be no points awarded for MOCs posted outside the main group.

- Creating more groups gives meaning to the ranks of "Spy" and "Diplomat", positions that can be achieved in multiple factions.

- This is a chance to make up for some of the factional unity that is corroded by faction-switching and other unwanted mechanics.

- Most importantly, this system would allow for efficient indexing of war strategies, factional collaboratives, locations, guilds, ranks, and membership instead if losing it all underneath whatever topic is trending,

- Deputy faction leaders will be able to keep their factions relevant and running smoothly even when the chief is out of action. Think of the issue the pirates/Vikings had - adding sub-groups will help prevent anything like that from happening again.

- You never know until you try - Give the word and I will beta-test this plan and blow the whole thing up if it doesn't work. No one will be the worse for it.

What do you think? As a true Rainosian who acknowledges no imperial authority I should have gone off and founded one anyway, but I decided that your opinions matter. So hit me with some "Yes"es!

YES! I was thinking the same, this group has gotten big and popular quite quickly. I've also thought about the advantages to having Faction Groups (they should be named similarly) because more specific and important information (like you said) could be preserved.

If people want to do a cross-over within other factions, they could use the "Crossovers" thread in this main group. In your own faction crossovers could be discussed in the Faction group.

Would the faction leaders be in each group? Or just their own? I suggest just their own.

City leaders could be MODs in each group :D

I don't think we should allow Spys and Diplomats into other faction's groups though....it would eventually result in most of the people in all of the groups (because Spy isn't that many points)

Should the faction groups be private groups?

I'm not too worried about the spies, because the implication is that a) each spy can only join one extra group, b) there are hardly any spies to begin with, and c), people lose their spy rank when they complete the next challenge.

I'm going to elect or handpick the Rainos admins, but I don't think we'll need many mods.

Public groups are better because each groups' admins will be able to invite new players to LOM and flaunt themselves around MOCpages.

I'm kicking off! See you later!

Do you have the file for the Rainos Faction Banner? I could use a copy for the new group, or I could make you admin and you could put it up.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! It's getting too crowded! But here's what I think we should do! DELETE everything in the "in" group faction threads, except the welcome message. We should add a link to our private groups.
I also think that those factional groups should be by invitation only;)
That way no spies get in!

You can try that with Mythron, and I'll slowly wean my faction off of the main-group thread and keep open enrollment. But my question is, what spies? The voices in your head haven't been whispering again, have they?

Paranoia aside, the spies weren't meant to be that secret. They have to maintain a presence in two places, and that means that they will be noticed... It's more of a privilege function than a serious act of espionage.

Ok err... how about they [founders/leaders of small villages] have control over the surrounding area. The cities in charge of that part of Rainos (You'll need to draw those lines on the map) can order that town to attack the people in that area in a MOC off or something like that. We'd need to put that in the main group though :/

This was a suggestion put through the Rainos subby. I think it might be a good feature for fighting between the clans of Rainos should the peaceful anarchy ever decay into civil war, but if someone has an idea for spreading it around the entire group, I would love to relay it.

Let me get this straight, each faction is going to have their own group now? Do I have to create that? I'm not good with photo software so I won't be able to make a picture like Rainos the Glorious has, what should I do?

Just get Gilbert/DTFNJ to help you. They're the ones who do all the banner stuff;) Also, you need to invite each admin to your group as ambassadors.

I didn't actually do any of the images for Rainos. The latest was done by Caleb R. I can photo-edit, but I have to jump through a couple of hoops to access a computer with the right software.

I don't think you need to join all of the faction groups. I won't joining any unless I absolutely have to (or if I am being a spy)...it would be way too much on my activity bar with things I don't need to know you know?

It looks like I'm going to restrict myself to Rainos and the main group... BECAUSE EVEN MY NEW FACTION OF MYTHRON HASN'T INVITED ME.

Then again, I think that if you are allied with another faction, at least the faction leader could join the other faction group.

Oh, well I hope you feel better soon! Anyways, would you possibly be ble to make me temporary Admin of the Mythron Group, just so I can invite the rest of the Mythron members?

If you want. It's helpful for getting ideas for your group.

Once people start signing on as spies and ambassadors that might change.

Hey admins! Check out the outlaw lottery in The Home of Destinies! You might want to do something like it in your factions.

I think that us faction leaders should move out of other faction groups (except for allied groups) unless we have the spy rank and then we can only be in one other group (besides the allied groups).

Example, I don't think Brick Boy or any other Mythronian should be in the Rainos faction group unless Brick Boy got the spy rank challenge done.
But Brick Boy could join the Nerogue faction group since Nerogue and Mythron are allies.

Especially how this Universal challenge turned into this whole secrecy in planing the whole faction's actions.

Agreed?

I personally don't mind if anyone sees my battle plans. Like you said, most of the secret sneak attacks won't be relevant anyway, as long as the proper points are covered. Incidentally, I do have the spy rank, and the only faction I want to spy on won't let me use it.
