Think we should begin hosting small contests here? Best SNoTed rockwork, most unique style, best-looking technique, and the like? (the winning entry would be featured as the group's main image for a time.)

sounds like a good idea. We could all get practice in unfamiliar areas of rock work.

I'd participate if I could muster up the guts to try a new technique :P (Which I might do.)

Your last build shows you've just about mastered your current style. I say go for it!

Yes, after the mocathlon would be a good time. It would also give me a chance to get back into the style I employed a few RCs ago...

What say I? Hmmm... I like the idea. It will definitely give me more practice. I'm just so tired of contests right now... I need a break. :P

Thank you!

So happy are you? Well I've noticed that a lot of the time you say too much but instead say to much! :P Teehee.

I think someone suggested in the general conversation that we could try to replicate a picture of a real-world type of rock for at least some of these challenges. That would get you and Hal out of your comfort zone and maybe give the rest of us a chance.

Realistic rockwork is something I want to do in my next few LOM and LoR/LCC builds.

I want to try some non-grey rocks in the future, personally.

I want to try to replicate just the basic shape and texture of this small cliff. http://icons.wunderground.com/data/wximagenew/w/WurzelDave/3921.jpg I've always wanted to try out the stacked and layered look.

Me too, but I have next to no slopes of any other color.

I wasn't planning to use slopes, but I suppose I have a nice selection of black parts now that you mention it. I wonder if I can get away with using those at some point.

Black rockwork?

Black rockwork?

Trouble is, you don't get many metamorphic or sedimentary black rocks, and igneous rocks have different kinds of cleavage.

No clue. I don't think I'm part of the organizing thing. Ask Kai, if you can get a hold of him.

Oh I've seen WIPs of that MOC, although I didn't notice any corner beam technique...

That's because I'd removed it before photographing the build - it was in the middle of a corner modification when I took the shot. :P

And yes, I'm back!...sort of. :P

Well, now that they've been postponed a little...well, as soon as possible. The main reason I never got them going was not enough people would participate.
But I'll start promoting now. And if you could all spread the word, I could start the first contest within the week!

I agree with Halhi, what's a job over Legos?

I'm not entirely sure what he's busy with, but I'd assume it's not a job since he's only a bit older than me (15/16 I think) :P he probably has a legitimate excuse
