Contest 1 - Carven Cliffs

The first contest is finally here! I'm honestly not sure if this will be a three-rounder or a standard one-round contest. We'll see as things develop. ;)

But yes! The category: carven cliffs! Design a sculpture or image that has been carved into rocks - heads, emblems, animals or whatever else! All entries are being judged from 1-10 with no superspecific criteria. Just build well-- be clever and creative, and take good photos if you can. (Oh, and the judges like bonus features - just saying.)

There are no actual prizes, as this contest isn't big enough for that, but the winning entry will be featured in the Rockwork Club's Hall of Fame, as well as be the main image for the group until the winner of the next contest. (ABS Forever, hope you don't mind me taking your idea.)

Entrant interchange is encouraged! Comment on your opponent's entry, discuss and smack here if you like - all of that.

This round starts now, 15 October, and ends at 12:00 midnight MOCpages time on Saturday the 25th. There's plenty of time to build, so put lots of thought into your entry. Get building!

Does it have to be a sculpture? Or can I make a castle built into rocks with rooms inside the rocks?

A man-made (minifig-made) structure built into rocks was an idea for another contest. This one is for hewn rock only...but you could always make a sculpture of a castle. :P

This is just in general, since I am not planning to do that for this round, but can our entry be part of a Moc for something else, like the MOs?

Yup! As long as the rockwork is prominently featured.

Do you just post the creation on this group? Or somewhere else?
Since I think I know the answer, I am going to take the liberty of answering.

Because there isn't another group (that at least I, as one of the judges) have been invited to, I think you only have to post it in the Rockwork Club group. To answer your previous question (about what you should name your build), since some people are not only using their entry for this competition alone, but for purposes of clarity I would suggest to title it something like "TRC Contest 1: Carven Cliffs: [your title here]", or "The Rockwork Club: Contest 1: [your title here]".

In all honesty, though, you can do whatever you want as long as it is clear that it is for this contest since Kai/Halhi didn't make firm guidelines that you have to adbide by or otherwise will be kicked out of the contest, but those are just two that I would suggest if you aren't using your build for anything else. If you are using it for another contest, I would suggest just adding something like one of the two examples I gave to the required title of that contest. Hope this helps!

Probably the best thing to do would be to provide a link to your entry in this topic

Well that was a flop, wasn't it. You win by default, Ethan!

In the future, I'm not doing this during a major contest. :P

I'm still counting that as a win in my book! What about the prizes?

Probably none since yours was the only entry

I'm afraid not on the prize, but you will be the first in the hall of fame, when I get around to creating one. :P

Yes, there will be more contests. I'm super busy these days, but next chance I get I will promote like crazy - you will all know when it happens, and hopefully I'll get more than 1 entry submitted. :P

Aw, I missed it? How about Round 2 this month, before the Tourney starts?
