Hi guys,

Sorry for the lack of official commentary on your questions over the last month. August is holiday season and as such most (if not all) of the site staff have been busy elsewhere.

The biggest issue, the site literally being inaccessible, was deliberate in an effort to fix an earlier issue of the database failure returns on images. To the best of my knowledge this is sorted.

The second biggest issue is the status bar information being cut off or out of date. This is still being looked into and I have no eta.

The last is the emails not working, this has been an intermittent problem for many months and some of us have been using the far more old school method of actually visiting our groups and favourite builders rather than being reminded when new activity occurs. I know for some of you this is not acceptable and I'm sure once Sean gets the opportunity it will be addressed.

The quiet time unfortunately is not yet passed, September is a busy time with school so I will not be on daily as I have in the past. But rest assured if I receive any updates via email I will share them with you all.

Continue to report issues, as much NEW information as possible is always appreciated. But please keep the debates civilised.

Be patient,

Steven

Hi Steven,

What you say is true about visiting groups etc. but the lack of e-mails does cause other problems. There's been a post in another thread in this group about somebody whose friend wants to sign up to the site but can't because it won't send him a verification e-mail. I've also been contacted by a contact on Flickr. He has forgotten his MOCpages password and can't get a reset e-mail.

The e-mail issue might be more important to fix than the Activity Bar. If the volume of traffic is problem, perhaps the system could be set up to just send e-mails covering the above topics, where there is no way to work around it?

Great that the pictures are back. That is what this site is all about, after all. It was rather frightening watching them ebb away.

I must admit that I have never concentrated on the emails. My first way is always the link: "New from your favorite builders" to see what's new. Then I rummage through the topics and groups. In this way, I rarely miss something. Only the argument of David that can not be invited into groups is annoying. And of course, you get no e-mail if you have to reset the Password.Your doing a great job. As the saying goes: Step by Step.
Maybe it would be for the future considering whether one should encrypt the login via SSL.

Thanks for the updates guys! The confirmation emails for passwords and account changes is pretty vital.

I know from a conversation with Chris that Sean is aware of the problem, but I have no new information at the moment.

All I can say is if things don't happen with new accounts, try contacting Sean Kennedy Design Inc.

E-mails are just nice reminders for me. I visit pretty regularly, but when I receive an e-mail, I have a way to really know what things I should probably do when on MOCpages. I have my set routine as well, but receiving notifications for new MOCs and replies to my stuff are just nice to know about if I don't have time to visit the site. But right now with the activity bar dead, the routine is inefficient.

You can use this page to check for new comments on your creations: http://www.mocpages.com/review_list_my_mocs.php
And this one to check for new MOCs from favorite builders: http://www.mocpages.com/builders_updates.php
So then, the only main things that you're missing are when someone adds you as a favorite, and comments in groups.

I understand in time scarcity that is of course a problem. I have not so much attention from the beginning to the emails and always looked himself via corresponding links. Especially in relation to the groups you're absolutely right, because the emails are indispensable.
