Why did my buddy icon turn into a black square?
Join to comment
I recently changed my Buddy Icon about 3 hours ago. I changed it to the Detroit Diesel icon which is a .png file. It is now just a black square. Can someone help me out here? Thanks.

don't worry sometimes it takes a few days for the change to take affect.

Just as a heads up for future reference, a lot of the delay has to do with the browser's cache. When your web browser accesses an image like a buddy icon it saves it so it doesn't have to keep re-loading it, but that means that when the icon changes your browser can still keep displaying the old cached image for a bit instead of downloading the new one.

Eventually the current image in cache will expire and the browser will download the new one, or you can speed it up by manually resetting the cache of your browser.

Of course, sometimes MOCpages is just slow too, so resetting the cache often won't do anything if you just made the change.

Thanks for the info. Google Chrome is usually pretty darn fast. I guess that the other image that I used was either too large or the wrong kind of file. MOCpages can be slow, as you said.
