Hi mods. I recently came upon this
http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/56684
persons page. He claims to have created his own nation but to be honest he seems to have taken a little too much inspiration from the Nazi Eagle. He also has what looks like an iron cross, which solidifies it. Infact, his story sounds alot like the story of Germany in between the World Wars. I have nothing against Germany or Germans, but I can not and will not abide Nazism.

I think the important bit is he says his Army are the 'bad guys'. Therefore he knows right from wrong, and it's quite refreshing to have some 'baddies' on MOCpages. The similarities are a little un-nerving though

Whether they are the "Bad guys" or not Nazism is nothing to play with.

Chris and I just spoke, having read this thread and taken a look at the home page under consideration.

We both agree with most of what's on the thread at this point. There certainly do seem to be a lot of similarities, and it's a topic NOT to be taken lightly. However, we also feel that he's set up a fictitious scenario identifying the characters as the bad guys (as Ape Fight pointed out), and isn't directly referencing the Nazi party, or showing support for any similar belief system. Given that, we'll let it stand for the time being.

However, if things change to where you DO start to see posts that directly reference Nazi's or show support for a similar perspective, we'd appreciate it if you'd let us know.

To me, the only "real" similarity would be the eagle. But you have to remember an eagle in a similar position is used by the U.S., Russia and Austria used to use that as a crest, along with many others. (See here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle#Eagles_as_national_symbols). To me, it looks like a stylized version of the Riechsalder, the eagle of the Holy Roman Empire, and the German coat of Arms.

The iron cross used seems like one here (the one used by bikers): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_patt%C3%A9e
And you also have to remember that the Iron Cross is STILL in use by Germany as the insignia for their Armed Forces.

The flag in General, looks like Prussia's.

He also says that the citizens have rights even though it is a dictatorship.

You could kinda compare it to my theme E.N.W.G who in large part is inspired by the Imperials, and Empires of old.

Personally, I don't see much connection to the Nazi regime as I do Empires of a time gone by.

Also, I'm also part of a theme called "Prusso-Egypt", which is, you guessed it. Actually influenced by Prussia and Egypt. My good friend Cliffe got me into it, he is the creator. His buddy icon here (and on Flickr), is an Iron Cross with the Eye of Horus superimposed upon it, with the Prusso-Egypt standard as a background. (I'm pharaoh and he's Kaiser Pharaoh BTW).

Finally, don't forget the Iron Cross wasn't Hitler's idea, it was Kaiser Fredrick Wilhelm II's.

My country was inspired by germany leading up to world war two, but was not inspired by those belifes in any way. Also the creations are more modern than WWII ish. I just like the whole feel to it, The colors, and culture. I would never post a swastica or anything along those lines, and as a new englander I belive that everyone from every ethnic background should have rights.

The internet, or the fact I had relatives killed in the camps.

Immature? I've read all the comments and would like to point out I had relatives killed in the Concentration Camps, have punched a person for doing the Nazi salute and my dad gets angry just seeing pictures of Hitler. Yes, Stalin was the greatest murderer ever, but the American Patriots (I live in England but am more Patriotic about my Russian ancestry.) should remember that it was their almighty country that dropped two Atomic bombs on Japan, killed millions of innocents just because Japan bombed Pearl Harbour. Now THATS immature. Mods, if this just turns into a big argument, please lock it, but If we can debate it like civilized people I see no reason to lock it.

And what bearing does THAT have on the current thread of discussion? It doesn't, beyond as a flimsy excuse for you to claim that obviously your opinion has to be right since your ancestor(s) allegedly had first-hand experience.

I'd just like to point out that the death toll would be much higher if the US invaded the Japanese homeland. Plus, the possible threat of a Soviet invasion further aided the decision. The decision was not done through immaturity.

My comment has about as much to do with the discussion as "The internet brings out moral guardians" did. Yes, the death toll would have been higher, but not as many civilians and the Russians were invading Japan as the Nukes were dropped. And, yes this is going to turn into a pointless flame-war. So, as I expected, Mods, lock the topic.

I never said my opinion was right, I just found something potentialy offensive, and had to find out. And don't say "allegedly". I obviously never met them but that doesn't mean I can't feel strongly on the subject.

Actually, they were quite prepared to hand out bits of sharpened bamboo to the civvies. Wouldn't have worked for the brits if Sealion had gone into effect, but the japanese were and are just crazy enough to follow through.

True, but that happened in Germany and Russia aswell, although they actually got guns. On a lighter note, Churchill once said "Every man must have a weapon, even if it is only a pike" So some idiot went a ordered hundreds of pikes to be made. But Churchill wasn't being literal. LOL.

This "Offended" topic is going downhill and is quickly turning into the "Flame Warzone".

Don't you guys have more important things to do (like building), instead going off on a witch hunt to find people that "offend" your moral beliefs.
I don't see how this affects Mocpages or builders, unless they are speaking of direct threats.

Yeah, I already asked the Mods to lock this topic as I do have better things to do, like have a life.

Yeah it's fine, just wanted to clear things up, I'm more annoyed that this turned into a flame war and the mods haven't locked it to be honest.

Yes. I have read a book. I'm part of the 10% of teens that still do.

Guys, this has turned into a flame-war, and now I seem to be the only one who wants to stop it, so if the mods don't lock this, hows about we all just leave this topic, and forget about the whole thing, savvy?
