It's not. They never are. Speaking of which, is anyone seeing these REALLY annoying ads with the vampire lady who's not wearing much. We've gone of this, that MOCpages doesn't always control the ads, but sheesh. These things are annoying. Permalink
These ads need to be controlled. They don't show up on my computer(Good grief), but from what I have heard, it's not making this place very friendly. I would love to post links to my MOCs from the LEGO website, but the rules won't approve of it very much because of the ads. Permalink

ok, first of all, try reading more than just the title. Second, the issues surrounding unwanted ads are the same whether they are spam or adult oriented.
it is irrelevant whether these spamming ads are age appropriate or not, they are unwanted, therefore the advice given in that other thread is entirely relevant and therefore I'd strongly suggest reading it before commenting further on the topic in ANY conversation.
but to summarise:
1. MOCpages has no control of what ads are visible, ad space is rented by third parties. A complaint can be lodged, but as for blocking or removing them - difficult if not impossible.
2. NEVER click on banner ads.
3. If you do not want ads at all, install an Ad Blocker, AVG now includes "do not track" which can block ads as well as tracking cookies and Firefox has AdBlockPlus which can block ads. However MOCpages makes money based on how many members see the ads, so they would never endorse the use of Ad Blockers.
4. please limit the use of CAPITAL LETTERS in replies. it gives the impression you are shouting and some members don't like that. Permalink

I think I have a solution. It won't get rid of it, but it will lower the chance of the unwanted ads showing up. Just look up something completely different. Like used cars. You'll start to get ads for car insurance and other things more often then you'll get an ad that's inappropriate.
Awesome idea. Like how Amazon.com ads show what's in your cart. or something like that. Permalink
