Quoting Got _ Griffin (B-day Feb. 28th)
...that people had been stealing so many creations from Mocpages, and pasted on the lego galleries! I've seen Kevin J. Walter's Barad-dûr getting plagiarized on the LOTR Lego Gallery, close to winning the money prize! Thankfully, Kevin told the moderators, and even had proof. (His picture with it XD) But the same thing is happening here. People from Mocpages also steal from the galleries. I've noticed this because I'm on both sites. I think we have to do something about this plagiarism, are there any suggestions?
You've got to think this through. Where are the links to these supposed stoled MOCs? We need evidence. And, there have been multiple topics about people stealing MOCs. Permalink
In order to persue a member who's appropriated someone's work we need a link to the original source and the page with the stolen image.
That's the approach we've taken for several years now. With the help of MOCpages members, and the Brick Busters, it's done a fair job of cutting down on thefts. However, I've been around long enough to see a cycle emerge...we'll bust people for a while until it dies down; things are quiet for a while; then the theivery picks back up again. It's been fairly quiet for a while, so I'm betting we're seeing another up-swing in the thefts.
I think the best thing that you can do for future reference would be to yes, put a transparent logo somewhere in the picture that it would be much harder to erase. If you put it somewhere where the background is completely white for example, you might as well not have bothered because that is easily erased.
What to do now?
Well, the best thing you can do now is be on the look out for the thieves and make sure they're dealt with appropriately.
We could even fashion a webpage called "Legojail.com" or something, and they can't leave the site for a certain amount of time, like a real jail and..
