Homepage Scroll Freeze?
Join to comment
As with everyone here, I often check out creations, groups, et cetera. But the first page that's open, the one I return to (via much use of the back button) is my own homepage. Recently I've noticed a problem with this: if I hit the back button a bunch of times (the correct number of times, though- not overclicking) and return to my homepage, I have a decent chance that I will be stuck at the top of the page without the ability to scroll. I can click things still, so that's fine, but I can't scroll at all.
This is solved by a quick page refresh, so it's not high-priority, but it's a bit annoying... and it's just a generally weird bug, so I thought I should mention it.
This problem has happened with increasing frequency, but only happens on my MOCpages homepage, not anywhere else. It has happened on Chrome and Firefox.
To recap: when I go back to my homepage, sometimes I can't scroll at all until I refresh the page. Overall low-priority issue.

I say it's all because of the smexy advertising.

I really don't know, but I do have the issue of hitting the "previous page" button about three times before it takes (It doesn't happen everytime), but I usually don't have the issue of scrolling. It's always been one of those thing that I accept as MOCpages being silly.

Quoting Digital Dreams
What size is the thumb of the scrollbar? Does it indicate that there is more content below that ought to be scrollable or does it suggest you're already seeing the whole page?
Whenever this happens, the scroll bar disappears entirely.
Quoting Digital Dreams MOCpages doesn't cache pages very well (at all?) so the "back" action essentially causes a reload of the page. MOCpages also has a history of sometimes fetching only "partial" pages, although that seems to be a lot better since the server upgrade.
Yep, that's probably related to the problem.

Anyway, as I said, it's not a big deal. Just posting it because I thought it was maybe somewhat of note.

Chro, for starters, thanks very much for such a thorough description of the problem. That helps out immensely.

This glitch is a new one on me, and the usual causes for homepage problems (banners, counters, etc.) don't look to be an issue. Also, the fact it's happening in multiple browsers raises an eyebrow. Although, I admit to not being well versed in the tech side of this site.

I'll pass the info along to Sean, and see if he might have any suggestions.

Thanks for letting us know.
