I am from Germany and my "subject" here on MOCpages is "-Town". Even though when I was younger, I played with pirates, knights and space ships as well, I am indeed a fan of LEGO town, as it gives you a multitude of things of our time or the past that you can create and put together to a Lego city just as you like. "Town" is so multiple, so exciting.
Almost all of my earlier town layouts were train layouts, too. As for me, a nice town always needs train tracks:)... I own tons of 12V train tracks and supply material such as lamps, signals, remote-controlled switches, crossings etc., three 12V train engines and lots of parts to build train cars.
I also have the 9V grey high speed train, two 9V construction train sets and a few switches and tracks to build bigger circles.
For combining the 9V and 12V circles, I created an interface where both type of tracks come together: from that point on, the central 12V conductor rail continued straight on in the midst of the metal 9V tracks until the next curve or switch. So both systems could be integrated in the same general body of train tracks!
Unfortunately, I did not take many pictures of former town layouts or creations. The few ones I have are digitalised slides, of which my favorite ones are already posted here.
"Doing LEGO", to me, means creating AND playing. That is why I am a fan of the minifig scale. When I build, I create my personal fantasy city just as I would like to find one.
However, I do have a certain need for realism. Things should be "round about" realistic looking in my world: trucks should be wider than small cars, trains should preferably be wider than trucks, etc. Sometimes, though, realism needs to be cut down a little bit in order to preserve playability and integration into LEGO Town layouts.
My way of building is a combination/compromise between realism and playability.
My current building passion - aircraft
Ever since I had a driving job for students at Frankfurt International Airport, I got quite a bit of inspiration to build some aircraft. The airport theme and aircraft are my Lego obsession for the time being, and I am currently building aircraft for my yet-to-build airport/airfield layout. I really like cargo planes and commercial aviation, though this does not keep me from building military aircraft every now and then.
Special thanks to Jeffery Smith and David P., to Bruno for showing me some HTML and to Stephen Abbott for his constant friendship ever since my appearance here on MOCpages..
You can also find my creations on FlickR, and
some of my photos of real aircraft right here.
I hope you will enjoy my MOCs. If you like to and if you have time, I would be very happy to get your opinion on my creations by both rating and writing reviews. Also, I would like to exchange experiences with other Lego builders and especially with those who share similar interests! So have fun checking out my stuff:)
