I was born in 1984 and have been creating sets ever since my parents felt it was safe enough for me not to swallow the small bricks. My brother is 10 years older than me so there was already more than enough for me to build with. I was never really interested in just following the instructions but I rather built whatever I felt like building. Never bought a box just for the bricks, I always felt it was somehow disrespectful to the creation. As a kid I loved the M-tron / 2nd gen Blacktron line (I just have never forgiven them for the idea of using open cockpits in space) and I must have built over a hundred spaceships in that style. Of course, back then we didn't have a CAD program to save any of it. Just my mom telling me to take it apart again so I could build something else again.
Now I like to build stuff for the kids to play with. And of course, I still want to build that perfect spaceship I was always so close to build as a kid. But I must confess I forgot with age what that vision of a perfect spaceship really was ... But that's all right. :-)
