My first lego creation as an adult was a 4.5 foot high replica of Orthanc, the tower at Isengard in Middle Earth.
I then decided to express my long-time interest in architecture by building some buildings but my first two structures, a 2 story house and a 12 story skyscraper so reeked of mediocraty that I quickly destroyed them. I then decided to look to Detroit's still vast reservoir of architecture for inspiration. This led to... My biggest project was the construction of a minifig scale replica of the historic 28 story Fisher Building in Detroit, Michigan. My first attempt ending in failure after the middle section collapsed into ruin after I tried moving it! The 2nd version stayed up! The building was displayed in public for the first time on March 5th, 2005 as part of MichLUGs display at GATS (Great American Train Show) in Novi, Michigan.
I built an Art Museum the week I joined MichLUG so that I could participate in a train show display. The museum design was based on the Detroit Institute of Arts. I plan a series of structures representing the buildings of Detroit.
Lego bricks have provided an outlet for my creativity (such as it is) that my job has not fully satisifed.
I am primarily interested in architecture. Other interests include science fiction, history, and military. Favorites include: SF: Babylon 5, Fantasy: Lord of the Rings, History: Ancient civilizations and WW2.
