My LEGOŽ experience started when my son became old enough to play with them. He liked Batman and Star Wars.
But I am an avid Harry Potter fan, so when the sets came out I bought each of them. My son didn't really have the
patience for the large sets so after awhile I was constructing on my own. He would take the minifigures and stage battles though.
Everything was set up on a table in my son's room until one of his birthday parties when he and his friends destroyed everything.
Then they set in boxes for years until this summer (2008) when I took some time off and decided to rebuild them.
After I had rebuilt everything I decided that I wanted real rooms and walls. So I started experimenting with MOCs.
I did set some rules for myself; if the MOC was based on an existing LEGOŽ set I would use something from that set in my design and
the MOC would be a combo of the books, movies and my own ideas. So at 53, I have become an Adult Female Fan Of LEGOŽ (AFFOL).
I started out wanting to make the underwater scene from the LEGOŽ set 4762 - Rescue From the Merpeople more accurate (add Cho, Cedric, etc).
While I was waiting for parts, I was inspired by
Miss Mary Potter's Great Hall and decided to make my own. Again waiting for pieces, I had the idea to build the DADA offices.
So the first MOC I am posting is my Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom and offices.
I hope to build a Hogwarts castle and grounds with most of the rooms that play an important part in the books and movies.
Fortunately, J.K. made 7 books so I have enough inspiration to last a lifetime.
