The Port of Brick Royal

The Port of Brick Royal – January 21, 2010 (third update)

The port is located on the Island of Legomaica during the Napoleonic era. I began construction of Brick Royal on February 3, 2009 and am now almost 1 year into its construction. There are numerous photographs of a number of individual buildings that reside in the port, also included is a diagram showing the ports general layout, a map of the island. I have also recently completed the 12 foot x 12 foot table(s) base that makes up the foundation of the Port.

The plan for the port includes the Naval Storehouse building as part of the waterfront area of the port as well as the Capstan Inn which will also sit on the waterfront. Government House will be located at the center of the port. St. Elizabeth Parish Church serves as the ports central house of worship. The building interiors will all be finished off in various themed vignettes such as an officer’s card club. There is also a large custom fort/Admiralty facility called Fort Monck which sits on bluffs high above the port and the sea. I have also created Passage which is a lesser fortification that is a highly modified version of Eldorado Fortress. The port itself will eventually evolve to house a separate naval port facility on the coast and an inland port facility for commercial commerce. The port will be garrisoned with approximately 175 original redcoats, 175 new redcoats, 200+ naval officers and peti-officers, 200+ sailors, 430+ pirates and 350+ villagers and townsfolk. Finally the port and its vessels will feature approximately 200+ cannons.

In addition to the land based facilities, I have begun the creation of the Legobbean Fleet. Included in its roles are/will be the HMS Foudroyant (120-gun 1st Rate Ship of the Line), HMS Venerable (64-gun 3rd Rate Ship of the Line), HMS Resolution (74-gun 3rd Rate Ship of the Line), HMS Indefatigable and HMS La Trompeuse (32-gun 5th Rate Frigates), HMS Hotspur & HMS Hound (18-gun Sloops of War), HMS Caroline (6-gun Brig), HMS Thera & HMS Pelee (Bomb Ketches), the Lady Castlereagh (Merchant Ship EIC). Harassing the Royal Forces will be the La Mort Royale (a French two deck man’o war), Le Reve (a French sloop/privateer) and the Flame (a Pirate Ship)

I am looking at this as a long term project that could take many years to finish(maybe a life-long project). I thought I would share the vision now so we can all follow along with the process and see how it finally ends up. Although in the back of my mind I am already imagining the Island outside of the port city and envision a large mountain and an extensive pirate’s cove, islander’s village and a plantation.

The Fleet currently has my full attention. I am working on the waterfront and support structure of the port and I am planning to build two custom village homes/shops as my next, as yet, unstarted project for the port.
