Where do you want to fight today?

Welcome to Tristarian Arms, the premier pan-dimensional weapons

Now that I've the geek out of my system I'll expose my inner nerd.

I'm a thirty-something AFOL who picked up the bricks in 2005 after
decades of more 'mature' pursuits. While pursuing my degree I bought a
few small Star Wars sets one winter break, poured them into a pile and
built my first MOC since my early teens. It was pure creative bliss and
took all the stress away. It was also creative crack cocaine. Much web
surfing led me here and had me embark on the study of the unfortunately
named SNOT building technique. Bulk purchases of Lego followed. Large
credit card bills followed that. I'm sure any AFOL knows the pattern.
Let it be said that "I'm not the Brad you're looking for" is a Jedi mind
trick that does not in fact work on MasterCard.

For me the big thing about Lego is it's a creative medium that lends
itself to visualizing past creative efforts. I was an artist in high
school through my early twenties, wrote a lot of sci-fi for my role
playing games and drafted a novel. My builds reflect what's been on the
page and in the brain for a long time. Moreover, with Photoshop and
other multi-media applications I can make my MOCs and the world they
inhabit come to life. That cross pollination of media is a real

Most AFOLs seem to find a niche so I'll be carving a couple of my own.

PHASE LINES: Warfare on the planet Jinan. More back-story to come so
keep an eye on this page. This is my 'serious' sci-fi theme focusing on
future warfare.

CHAOVERSE: My 'fun' sci-fi theme. Chaoverse was what my friends and I
called our role playing game world based on Palladium Books' 'Rifts'
series. We took many of the elements of Rifts we liked, put them in
space and added just about EVERYTHING from other sci-fi themes. The
focus was on mercenary teams finding work in this chaotic universe and
the wacky adventures they had. My first SHIP build will come from this
theme. More back-story to come.

There, I've carved my niche. Other builds will model some things I've
never seen done, and am much surprised that they haven't. I'm also
planning to run a series of 'how to' videos on YouTube. I haven't seen
that done and lord knows I could have used something like that when I
started out. Hopefully it catches on with the true masters who frequent
this site and we can build a video cache of Lego building techniques.

As for Tristarian Arms, that was the name of a weapons manufacturer I
pulled out of the air while drawing some laser pistols in grade six.
The company and its personalities will be fleshed out as part of the
Chaoverse theme.
