I have been building for around 14 years. I had my dark ages as people like to call them. I got back into building when I was out garage saling in the neighborhood and found 2 large crates of Lego. The Lego included 3 pirate ships, a couple castles, town sets, and a bunch of misc. parts. I got all of that for the grand total of $25. My wife almost had a heart attack wondering why I would spend THAT much money on some toys. Oh what little she knew back then. (Reality is, she probably wished she made me put it back!) Now I have an entire room 10' x 14' dedicated to Lego. It pours out into other parts of the house for short periods of time before I have to 'pull it all back in.'
I mostly collect castle and pirate. I love minifigs and have over 6,000 of them. You can never have enough of them! My calvary is over 600 horses strong. These were collected over the years, no Bricklink orders to clear out someone's stock.
I currently host the TCLUG group out of ST. Paul, MN and participate with the TWINLUG group. I have shown my imperial city twice now and am considering taking it out to Lego convention in Chicago in 2009. The first layout, pictured below was 5' x 7'. The current rendition this year grew it to 10' x 12'. I put a lot of work into the ocean and the ground work. It is version 2 of my walled city.
