How our hobby started:
Calista and I started building/playing with LEGOs in the spring of 2010. It started as a friendly competition between us. I was building a small Star Wars clone army with the Hasbro action figures, and she decided to do the same, only with LEGO minifigs. As a gift exchange, we bought each other a Republic Gunship to go with our armies. But as soon as we build her LEGO set, I was hooked.
We both love the classic Star Wars trilogy, and decided that it would be fun to have a LEGO collection of each of the famous starfighters from the films. Then came the discovery that most of the LEGO sets for those starships were no longer available in the stores. We then scoured eBay and were lucky enough to find a few great deals on some older sets: Slave 1, A-Wing, B-Wing.
One brick is too many, and a thousand are never enough:
At some point during our internet hunt for LEGO references, our attention fell to BrickLink. What was once a casual hobby instantly became a huge endeavor. We quickly built three TIE crafts to match our Rebel ships. But a huge hole in our collection became apparent. We NEEDED the Millennium Falcon.
The going rate for the UCS Falcon set was way out of our budget. But we learned about uploading set lists to BrinkLink, then buying the parts from there. It's been great fun ever since. We put in a couple orders on the weekend, wait for the bricks to arrive, and then build, build, build.
I hope you dig what we've put together. Not all of our building is centered on Star Wars though, and I'll keep adding additional photos as we finish our projects.
