The Story So Far :
Racta Magna is a small, fairly insignificant planet a short distance away from Spherus Magna. While not looked upon in high regards by the universe, it is considered a fairly convenient Pit Stop for travellers, meaning that almost every known species in the Matoran Universe has stepped foot there once.
Racta Magna was originally home to a species of Warriors named Gostoks, until a large amount of Toa and Matoran, led by a Toa named Trokan, immigrated there. The Gostoks acted with hostility, and a long war broke out between the two factions. The Toa eventually won and drove the Gostoks to extinction. Trokan became a Turaga shortly following the end of the war. He was succeeded by the Toa Racta(Onika, Benu, Galika, Korapa, Parah, Leka, Thorax) who protected the city of Racta Major. Their main enemy were the Makuta Sombrak (Aroxion, Astrok, Reshak, Bestox, Soldok, Zarliz, Arvour, Fantos), a surviving faction of the Brotherhood of Makuta who sought to rule the entire planet. This early conflict between the two groups was known as the “Days of Shadowed Magna,” and culminated when Toa Thorax transformed into Takathorax, the Toa of Light, and defeated the Sombrak leader, Aroxion.
(Quest of the Sword)
Soon, a new generation of Toa began to emerge alongside the Toa Racta; one of these was Toa Raxonax, a hero of much renown. In his travels he met a Toa named Cilla, who warned him of Shadonax: an evil creature bearing much resemblance to the Toa who was causing havoc. Raxonax resolved to stop him- setting out on a journey and gaining many new friends: One of which was Toa Galia, with whom Raxonax had a romantic affair with; another was Clank, a peculiar robot who accompanied the two Toa ever since. Raxonax tracked down Shadonax and fought him; though the villain lost, he managed to escape with his life.
Raxonax was later summoned by the Order of Mata Nui, to help deal with the returning threat of the Sombrak, whom had returned to torment the people of Racta Magna once more. The battle was fierce, and the Order were losing, facing many casualties. The group were eventually able to make a pact with the Sombrak; by helping to destroy a common enemy; a Skakdi and his gang of bandits, the Order forced the Sombrak to stand down.
(The Unwanted Hero)
The Sombrak, however, later broke the truce when they attempted to steal the “Spear of Strength”, a powerful artefact, but were antagonised by a mysterious hybrid Toa of Plasma and Shadow named Montu, one of their old experiments gone wrong. In response, Aroxion sent out a Dark Hunter named Les Tenebres, who harboured a grudge against Montu, to kill the Toa; Montu eventually emerged victorious. While all this was happening, the Toa was combating a parasite inside of him known only as "the Leech", a remnant of the experimentations that the Sombrak conducted on him. Montu defeated this inner demon only with the help of Toa Cilla and two rogue Sombrak members named "Light Aroxion" and Rugaki.
(Hunt For "God")
Meanwhile, upon discovering that Racta Magna held “the Gate”, a path from the world of the living to the world of the dead, Thanatos, the self-styled “God of Death”, attempted to destroy the planet along with The Destroyer’s Three, and his “Cult of Thanatos”, a group of criminals lead by Nebulus. The Toa Racta intervened. After a long desperate struggle, Nebulus was killed, the Cult disbanded, and Thanatos and his demonic three were trapped inside Nebulus’ Black Hole Staff.
Not so long afterwards, a Toa of poison known as Raznor and his Vahki took over Racta Major, the capital of Racta Magna, and attempted to free Thanatos from the Black Hole Staff. However, his plan was foiled by Turaga Trokan and Toa Benu.
As Trokan died, he warned Toa Onika that prophecies predicted a final battle between the Toa Racta and the Sombrak, one side being completely annihilated. Soon afterwards, Aroxion staged an attack on Racta Major, sending a scout group of Makuta Bestox and other creatures, who set up camp near the city. The Toa prepared by gathering six elemental weapons which had been entrusted to Toa Galia, who had in turn hid them. While out, they also gained allies. This culminated in a siege on Racta Major which resulted in the deaths of all Sombrak members excluding Makuta Reshak. After the Sombrak’s defeat, the Toa Racta all became Turaga and renounced their mantle.
(The Contenders Book 1: Persist and Endure)
Three years later, Reshak grew bitter with loneliness and attempted to resurrect his father Aroxion with the help of his “Children” (Dukrina, Apothrahk, Thisrahk) In response to this, a Toa team named the Contenders (Raxonax, Galia, Cilla, Montu, Dorru, Takathorax) were formed; they battled Reshak and other enemies of Racta Major on multiple fronts. Reshak came very close to achieving his goal, but was defeated by Takathorax in battle and his loss further compounded by Thanatos, who had pretended to ally himself with the Makuta. Takathorax sacrificed himself to finally eliminate Reshak. A while later, Raxonax encountered Shadonax and killed the villain; he then established a friendship with a mysterious beast named Idonax.
(The Contenders Book 2: Platonic Justice)
The Contenders were thrown back into action upon the arrival of Mary Windbird and her compatriots (Jack Lupus, Jenna Arrowhead, Sanah Torch and Cliff Scaler). They were followed by the villain Dread and his gang (Tumbler, Voltwhip and Bipotron), and the Contenders fought to protect the heroes. Dread then sought to form the Platonic Justice, an army with which to destroy the Contenders and the Hero Factory. Meanwhile, Edoth teamed up with Montu and Cilla to hunt down the Gostoks (Gerikigil, Gerlo, Gelenjof, Gavamond and Gellesyl) and destroy the Gate. Mordath wished to achieve the same end with a group of Dark Hunters (Slave Driver, Sohbec, Helda, Solorak), hunting down Dukrina and Apothrahk. The Platonic Justice were defeated and the Gate was destroyed.
