A privileged life are the hardest ones to live.

Hi, I'm Andrew. I'm 17, and while I appreciate and have built in most of the various Lego Systems in all their shapes and forms, at least currently I'm quite inclined towards Bionicle as my favourite medium.

I dunno why - maybe I'm more of an artist than an engineer? Even though I'm more of an engineer than an artist? Huh.

After seeing a few of them you'll get the impression that I have a soft spot for pieces from sets that were out before Bionicle started to about 2004. That period was definitely my favourite chunk of the Franchise, story wise at least, and even buildwise I think those sets are way more under-appreciated than they should be.

I'd like to think that I've grown quite a bit in the last year I've been irregularly uploading my stuff, and as you can see in most of my creation pages I like to show my thinking process and where I strive to find areas to improve in. Hey hey, that wouldn't have taken long to figure out. =P

As of 29/01/2015, here's a quick directory to my better Bionicle creations, in ascending order:

Orion, the Decimator
Eyrain, the Aftersmoke
Gretiyra, the Sparkstarter
Jano, Frostbite's Grasp
Darrok, the Inexorable Terraforce
Alverh, the Cloud Walker

And here's a complete list of those in my 'series' of Set combiners, all out of Bionicle sets from 2001 to 2003. Again, in ascending date order:

Toa Hunter (Kopaka N + Rahkshi Kurahk)
Toa Devourer (Gali N + Rahkshi Guurahk)
Lewa XL (Lewa + Bohrok Lehrak)
Bohrok Crawler (Gali + Bohrok Gahlok)
Bohrok Centurion (Bohrok Pahrak + Rahkshi Panrahk)
Toa Decimator (Gali + Bohrok Gahlok)
Tidal Dragon (Gali + Gahlok + Gali Nuva + Guurahk)
Dooom Viper (6x Rahkshi)

As you may or may not have discerned, I have quite a mixed view of the Creature and Character Building System :
In light of Bionicle's return individual CCBS sets are definitely superior (and cooler) than any of the canister sets released in the entire 9 years Gen1 Bionicle ran. They're more sophisticated, more easily changed around with other CCBS pieces.

But isolated from Technic, like the Hero Factory line certainly was, CCBS honestly was not a superior building system when it stands alone - it's even a step down. In fact, I'd say that's my number one gripe with CCBS - it simply lacks the Technic frame of mind even more than Gen1 did. Instead of averting its path from an alternate building system to the oh-hey-snap-snap-snap-look-mom-I-am-wizard state it had become, it really just continued in that direction.

But the re-inclusion of pins and axles and connectors and gears in Gen2 Bionicle are absolutely a step in the right direction. For CCBS is still a young system, and a far easier one for TLG to grow and flower from than the exquisite yet overused Inika torsos and your grand choice of five types of one-piece shins, with a maximum of 3 pin holes place wherever in between your molded greebles.

I'm not quite ready to fall in love with Gen2 Bionicle just yet. It still has a long way to go and many places to improve. Yet I have faith that if TLG handles this intentionally and keeps their receivers wide and broad, they can finally get the Figure system in the right place.

For I believe in a coexisting, harmonious marriage between the ball-joint and the pin-hole, just it was originally meant to be. Just... Technic needs to wear the pants in this relationship. XD
