I like Lego. I never really grew out of it, and see it as somewhere between a construction tool, an art form and a relaxing pastime. I may as well make the most of it before I lose my imagination and get a soul-crushing office job.
A brief word about the Shidoa because this website has no blog function:
The Rahksids fitted their niche in Aqua Magna perfectly. They flourished and remained at the peak of the food chain for decades. However, they were being watched. Forces, parties of mysterious origin were watching them. They saw powerful, territorial hunters. They liked what they saw. Across the world Toa were rising, endangering plans and disrupting the correct order of events. The Toa had fought great beasts and hordes of pests, and each time pulled through with barely a scratch. The sledgehammer approach had failed. What they really needed, they realised, was assassins.
And so it was that one by one the Rahkshids were captured, detained and modified. The exact nature of these modifications is unclear, but there were extensive changes to both their mechanical and organic structure. The methods by which such changes were achieved will likely never be known, but they surely must have been horrific for the Rahkshids involved, who disappeared and remained absent for many months. Whether they recall these ordeals is as unknowable as the rest of a Rahkshid's pscyche, which was also affected by the process by some form of intense psychological conditioning.
These beings are no longer Rahkshids. They were once fierce but mindless beasts, now they have refined the chase into an art form. Their strength is greater, their senses sharpened and their minds keener. They are stalkers, watchers and hunters beyond compare. No matter where their prey may run, they will always follow. They are more than Rahkshids, they are as inescapble as a Toa's own shadow.
They are the Shidoa.
Meanwhile, in the real world...
I stumbled across my old MOCpages page and laughed at my rubbish little monsters called the Rahkshids, and my incoherent grammar. I thought about how Bionicle isn't as mechanical as it used to be. I swiftly set about remaking the Rahkshid models, only beefed up with Technic components. Enjoy.
