While the Aces get the glory, the unsung heroes just go around doing there jobs for the betterment of their homelands. The dropship pilots are some of those unsung heroes. Braving dangers of flack, pirates, and weather, the dropship pilots get to their targets and dispense their cargoes. Whether it's jeeps, troops, or bombs, they get the job done!
About this creation
A DS-111 makes a pinpoint drop to deliver a jeep to groundtroops. Note the Dropzone flares illuminiating the target.
My only tri-motor aircraft I've ever built, the DS-111 is a craft capable of carring 1.5 tons of material to forward positions for support. External bomb loads up to the same weight can be dropped to bombard targets. It can also do modest damage with it's several 50 cal machineguns on fixed targets.
Landing gear is extensive, allowing for a variety of cargoes to be carried.
The drop pallet with parachute pack on the rear.
Landing gear folds backward, reducing the drag substantially.
