Future City - Cloud Tower
About this creation
One portion of my Future City MOC. This section's gallery is here.

Too big for the sheet: the Cloud Tower.
The Cloud Tower is based on a building I saw on the Discovery Channel. I liked the idea of residential floors broken up by outdoor levels. There's a shopping mall on the ground floor,
and five "discs" with two residential floors apiece. The color strip in the the middle of each disc is meant to be color-coding like some parking garages or large parking lots. If your friend says, "I live in Cloud Tower, orange level," you know where to go.
Visitors can land their aircars on these fold-out platforms. (They probably don't need to fold up like that, but I liked the idea.) Lights on the underside of each platform correspond to each disc's color.
Each disc has an outdoor facility on top. Red level has a small park;
Orange, a swimming pool;
Yellow, a tennis court;
Green, a group of pine trees;
and at the very top, on Blue level, a ski slope with snowmaker. Shades of Superman III, I guess.
I'd hate to have that drift fence snap.
The first thing I thought of when I saw X-Pods was a building.
The roof.
I needed a way to have the monorail/train turn a corner in a small area. I ended up using a small turntable. (Hey, it's a future's stiff enough to pivot on a small area, and not collapse.)
Essential services: police,
and fire. The fire "truck" is heading out on a call.
The transfer point between the Red and Blue train lines
Religion Row, with various houses of worship. A church and a Buddhist temple.
