WIP 2 - 1/10 Bugatti Type 46
2nd part of the work on the 1/10 Bugatti Type 46 : steering, engine, grill, general work to the front end of the car.
About this creation

Here's the second installment of the work on the 1/10 Bugatti (The 1/3 Lamborghini is on hold for what'll hopefully be a short while...)

Please keep in mind that this is still a work in progress , and some bits you see in the photo that might look a bit dodgy (like the dark red bricks in the bodywork, rear wheels, or square transparent plates on the headlamps) are only temporary replacements until I get the right colour/shape parts.

Today, I've been mainly concentrating on the front end and have managed to get quite a bit done.
First, I concentrated on the steering system, which is built in a similar way to the one used on my Mustang model; basically the central shaft is joined to a couple of cogs so the steering wheel can be to one side and not in the middle. Sounds easy if you have no size restrictions (which was the case in the Mustang - it was horrible doing the steering on that...) , but luckily here the whole front end was empty - so I hid most of the steering system within the engine.
The engine, of course, was the next bit - it doesn't power the car, and isn't connected to the wheels or anything; it's just there for looks, and was built around the steering mechanism. In this scale, it's difficult making an accurate-looking engine out of lego; I used my 1/18 Bugatti type 51 model car for reference (the engine can't be *that* different looking...) and based my lego design upon that one.

Next, was more estehtic stuff - the steering wheel on the inside (still need to do the rest of the dash and interior), which was put at an angle, like the real car ; door handles (which cleverly cover up the technic 1x4 bricks that are necessary on the car); grills on the sides of the bonnet (probably not the best design, but I couldn't come up with anything better... if you have any ideas, feel free to tell me); headlamps and then just the general 'bits' around the front grill ; oh, and the grill itself of course - which will be completed by two 3x3 'macaroni' curved bricks when I get them ...

Next up; probably the back and/or interior ... the wheel arches/wings/whatever you call them and final touches will be last.

Hope you like it !

P.S. If you are looking to buy lego for your creations, I would like to recommend the following Bricklink lego shop ; "About Town, Castle & Train" ( )
I personally know the shopholders, and they are very nice, devoted people. They are currently sponsoring 100% of my 1/3 Lamborghini project, providing all of the parts; and have made various other donations to other models I have made.
The store has a wide selection of parts (over 600,000!), at good prices, and offer an exceptional, fast service (no tax or dodgy exchange rates, next day postage, etc). you won't be disappointed !

Quoting Tterbo Magnesium What happened to the Lamborghini?
Hmmm... Not much, it's justb sitting on a table getting surrounded by boxes of lego lol... A bit of a problem with an order; a very big one, of which basically noly a fraction turned up... not suire what to do, it wasn't cheap; and buying the same stuff over again seems a little silly - it might be stuck in customs or something like that... When I can, I'll get back to it - I certainly want to ! - In the meantime, I'll have to entertain you with this 'small' car lol :) Dan
