The Van
1983 GMC G-Series (G-15) Van from the A-team.
About this creation
"If you need help, and, if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the A-team." This is the van from the 1980 series "The A-Team." It is a 1983 GMC G-Series (G-15) Van with custom paint job. That was probably the funnest and most challenging part of building the whole model, making the red stripe through the black.

I think what I learned from building this model is that, the golden rule of LEGO building is this: Always have a reference picture. I knew that before, but it didn't really click until I tried to make this without any pictures. Oh, and if you want to see some pictures of what the van actually looks like, just google "A team van."

In some views of the van, the paint above the red stripe seems dark-gray. The reason I did not incorporate this into the model was simple: I did not think it looked good in LEGOs. So I made a choice, and went with black.

So here is another non-sci-fi Star Trek model. I have enjoyed making models that I wouldn't usually make, but don't worry, I still plan on designing some more Star Trek models before I'm through.

Not much to see here, except for the poor design in the roof. Oh well.

Now here's where it gets interesting. I made the side door actually pop out and slide open, without taking anything apart and putting it back together. The secret? Two hinges that make an arm, attached to the door and roof.

You can see the gray chairs and the interior. It isn't very detailed, but this is a small model.

The back doors were made with plates, and I added small openings for windows.

...And yes, they really do open. You see this shot a lot in the show, they open the back doors while driving and shoot at the bad guys.

And finally, the front. I think I put the most detail in the front, with all the lights and grills and bars.
