Here is the phalanx lined up before they go into battle. Being the most disciplined group in the army, they always wait patiently and in perfect order. Their commander is the one carrying the black spear. (Far left so that he has a better chance at survival)
Here is the battle formation. The phalanx are lined up close to each other, in single file rows. The phalanx are positioned fairly close as to form a wall with their shields. Their spears come over their shields as to create a wall that fights back. Historically, they have been known to be weak on their right side. Therefore, they place their best warriors on that side.
Here are the archers of the army. They use crossbows, for short range and effective defense of castle walls etc. The commander is the masked lego on the right, this army picks the nomadic men as the archer captains, so that they are well trained and have been forced to use their bows for food.
This is the archer formation during a battle on ground without castle walls. The tan circular studs carry the arrows for the archers to use for easy access. Because of this, fire arrows are possible.
These are the pikemen, specifically designed to fend off, and hopefully dismount horsemen. They are heavily armored, and have long halberds to counter the charging cavalries.
Here are the pikemen in battle formation. Although similar in formation to the phalanx, the goal is not to get the enemy as close as possible, but to demount them quickly and effectively.
These are the guards/engineers. They are well trained to handle ballistics as well as security. The captain of the guards is in the front.
Last are the knights, the lords of the land. They are also the generals of the army and are very very capable fighters.
I love the organization of this army. They're not afraid to use foreigners like nomads, but everyone is well disciplined and effective. I really like phalanz formation (as long as the flanks are protected), and the crossbow quivers are good. Keep it up.
