Coffee Tin TUNNELS
There are 3 tunnels in total, two in one wall and one in another.
About this creation
The view if you're a mini-figure

I used an 8 inch hole saw to cut the holes in the wall, what a mess with plaster walls, my wife was fit to be tied. I already had the hole saw for installing pot fixtures, I'm a licensed electrician in Ontario, Canada

I then took a large coffee tin and cut it lengthways and spray painted flat black on the inside. Spread it to mount inside the 8 inch hole with the seperation at the bottom. In one case I put a tapered piece of wood to match the shelf then ran the tracks.

Not a great pic, but it shows 2 main things, the back of my train shed on the other side of the wall and the coffee tin,

I thought I'd try something different here, I like the first one better

The pic above is the other side of the pic below. Below the shelf is where all the power comes from for tracks, lighting and now charging the Emerald Night. I've retired a few trains in the past, I like the power functions better

I needed a way to pass the hydro pole wires through the tunnel to continue the pole lighting, a couple of pieces of Lego were glued then screwed to the top of the tunnel. I then built the wall up and down to the shelf.

Lego did a TV spot years ago, that's where I got the idea for the tunnel wall.
The TV commercial was called "The great LEGO mail heist of 1983"
I'd give you the link to view, but you need to do 2 things first, #1 be a LEGO Club member and #2 you have to join the MLN The"My LEGO Network" by clicking the link on the "Play" tab. It's worth joining just to see the commercial and the other ones too.

i like your layout, but,it would havebeen better with lego elements exclusively, the other elements distract from the piece a little, you have nice kits, i agree on the train principle, i would nt want to have electricity running trough all the track s lenght, i had my share of that with slotted race tracks, i like the new system much better, although i need rechargeable batteries now, nice set up, i hope you ll clean it up when you have some time, as it s really worth the effort! i know of you from along time now, i used to be on lego net for a short while! visit when you can!

Quoting kallo mavak Very thoughtful and creative at the same time. What did you mean when you said that your wife was fit to tie her up? she needed to be tied up?
Fit to be tied is an expression that says and asks "Are you nuts, you wanna cut holes in the living room for a Lego Train?", and that's what she said, she loves it now though. Thanks for your comment.

I love it. It's such a simple idea, but I've never seen it done before. Granted, most people don't cut holes in their walls either. My only complaint is that it needs some matte black or grey spray paint.

Quoting Rahkshi Poopi How long did it take to make these tunnels, Legodac? =D
Hard to say, because I was bulding the sheles at the same time and wiring the hydro poles, for the tunnels alone though, I'd have to say about 10 hours.
