The Messerschmitt Bf 109-Z (for "Zwilling" - twin) was a German Zerstörer (destroyer, heavy fighter) project. To simplify production, it was to be built out of two standard Bf 109-F fuselages connected by a special center wing. The starboard cockpit was replaced by an extra fuel tank.
About this creation
As much as I love unconventional aircraft concepts, my heart als beats for the classic WWII warbirds.
So, the "Zwilling" was the perfect way to combine these interests.
This MOC is based on HIEN's great Me 109-F that you can find on brickshelf.com.
It was easy to rebuild and I only slightly modified his construction.
Another odd design from the Reich, I think you did a splendid job on it. The Messerschmitt rendition is flawless, I'm so impressed with your ability to build such accurate models down to the smallest detail.
