About this creation
This is a Volvo ABG5820 Paving Machine, totally made out of the LEGO set 8275. First I show you some nice pictures:
This model has almost all the functions which a normal ABG5820 also has. Only a chain for transportating the asphalt lacks. The most important function is, ofcourse, the driving system:
On this photo you see the caterpillar and the motor (between the caterpillar and the IR-receiver) which drives the caterpillar. Each caterpillar (left and right) is driven by one large PF-motor. The gear-train between the motor isn't very large:
A third motor, a Medium PF, is used for tilting the container at the front, to make sure that there is no asphalt left in there:
The speed of the motor is been geared down by a worm and two white slipping gears are used to prevent the system of rattling.
The last motor-driven system can be found at the rear of the paving machine. There is a motor used to make the surface which is being paved larger. This was the hardest part because normally you do this with a toothed bar, but oops.. there are no toothed bars in this set, so I had to make an other system. I managed and this is the result:
Because the Paving Machine has to be transportated, the roof can be fold in. I tried to replicate that as good as possible and I came to this:
To fold in the roof you have to pull the two axles out and push the roof down and to the front of the car.
Underneath the grille, the two IR-receivers are assembled. You can also see a part of the V8 diesel motor.
On these photo's you see where all the PF-stuff is placed:
Hi Techno Moves, Very original! This is the way to learn how machines work! Especially the "container tilting unit" and the "paving area extender" are very interesting. I am looking forward to see it in operation (in your movie).
