The Andrulean Firestorm is a heavy attack fighter designed for deep space operations from planetary bases. In other words, itís an escort fighter for cargo ships passing through the system.
This particular model is the only one in the space pirates fleet and is piloted by Ergi, who fled Andrulea after suspicions arouse about ďmidnight meetingsĒ with female members of the Andrulean Congress. Ergi hasnít denied any rumors, but refuses to acknowledge them as well.
The Firestorm represents my attempt to keep the masses happy and cover up most, if not all, of the studs. I actually have no problem with studs showing Ė if it werenít for those grippy little nubs none of this would be possible.
In some ways this MOC reminds me of old jet fighters from the 50s and 60s (for some reason the F4 Phantom comes to mind), and it isnít the sleekest thing in space. But then again, the Borg flew a cube at beyond warp speed and nobody complained about that except Picard.
Maybe the wingspan should be a bit wider, but itís going to Brickworld as is. Iím leaving for the beach in a few hours and canít take time to rebuild it. Maybe after BW Iíll tinker with it and perhaps greeble it a bit (Thatís a weak area for me).
More backstory: The Firestormís massive Annodite-Arvola Systems engine (patented on Earth on stardate 6502.314) and advanced sensory arrays give it plenty of power Ė it can go from Earth to lunar orbit in less than an hour, Earth-time.
Weapons? Yep, sheís loaded for combat with ion cannon and Andrulean static laser technology. This model is equipped with Bumyergon guided missiles on the lower wingtips. The Firestorm can also be outfitted to carry and deploy space mines or atmospheric bombs.
Ok, that just about wraps up my Brickworld builds Ė Iím heading to the beach for vacation (yep, thereíll be some Lego making the trip, so thereís a chance episode two of The Lone Researcher may pop into my head)
Like I told you last night, leaps and bounds my friend, leaps and bounds. You're bringing so many swooshable things to BW that I think I need to grow a few more hands to play with all of it... wait, that didn't come out exactly right did it? Oh and Garth, no... no he doesn't. ~ Chris.
