"Ladies and Gentlemen! Boys and Girls! Droids and Jawas! Prepare yourselves for the battle of the century! In this corner, weighing in at 220 pounds, the Terror From Tatooine, the Dark Lord of the Sith, the former Anakin Skywalker—DARTH VADER!
And in this corner, weighing in at 175 pounds, a killer of Jedi, the Naboo Annihilator, Darth Sidious' #1 apprentice—DARTH MAUL!"
About this creation
The Sith Lord has received word of a Rebel fleet acquiring plans for the first Death star and has tracked it down to Kalakar VI, an old Sith homeworld. He and his Stormtroopers are greeted by the Prophets of the Dark Side.
"You do not deserve the title, Skywalker. Your blood is tainted with the foul stench of the Jedi. We, the Prophets, will end your charade and elevate the Sith back to its former glory!"
The Dark Lord turns to attack the so-called Prophets, when an assassin dispatches of his Stormtroopers, wielding a red lightsaber.
"It is time I reclaimed my throne beside Sidious. The Empire needs a true Sith, not a cyborg Jedi!"
And so the clash begins, the primal Zabrak against the calculating cyborg.
At first, both are evenly matched, with Vader's slow, hard defensive beginning to anger Maul, making the later much more careless.
Maul: "What's the matter, Annie?! Bow-legged?!"
Vader: *Six movies, Maul! Six movies!*
Maul: "DIE YOU FUFHFJKKINGFUCDAHFRAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! IMMA CUT YOU!!"
Vader manages to cut Maul's saber in half.
The Red Menace's Jar'kai style vastly outmaneuvered Vader's limited mobility, and the tide quickly turned for the worse.
Darth Vader made one fatal mistake, and Maul used it to devastating effect, kicking the cyborg's lightsaber away. As Maul raised his sabers to become the new Dark Lord...
Vader used the Force to stab himself with his lightsaber, stabbing Maul in the process!
Maul: "What could you hate enough to destroy me?!"
I just got my new Darth Maul minifig delivered, and I just had to do the scene. Fun fact; one of the Prophets is Maul with his hood the wrong way, and the other one is Reaver.
And to all the purists out there, this is canon. Star Wars Tales #9, Resurrection. Also in the 20 Greatest Moments in the Expanded Universe. For good reason.
