Why We Fight
This is the eighth episode in my series. It takes place on D+14. The squads morale is low. McCullin is in England recovering. On their way to the next town there is little talking. Nobody in the squad wants to get to know eachother anymore than they do now after losing their friends. Please rate and comment!
About this creation

Pvt. Grant: Oh m-my G-g-god.
Up ahead was a French boy around the age of 7 hung on a tall tower.

The squad stood around the little French boy. Wondering who would do such a thing.

MSgt. Jones: Grant, cut him down.
The fact that someone would do this made Collins very mad. He wanted to kill whoever did this.

A surrendering German walked out of a bombed out house.
Pvt. Collins: Hey Grant! Come ask him if he killed the French boy!
Grant was also a translator.
Pvt. Grant: Haben Sie die wenig kill französische boy?
German: Ja Ersatzteile Im Leid bitte mein Leben.
Pvt. Grant: He said, "Yes, im very sorry, please spare my life."

Pvt. Collins: I dont accept his apology.
MSgt. Jones: We cant take prisoners. Collins, kill him.
Collins pulled back his rifle and prepared to kill the German.

Collins hit the German so hard with the butt of his rifle it made a loud cracking noise, killing the German instantly.

Collins stared at the man with a disgusted look on his face. He hated the man. How dare he hang a child this young. He would leave his body out and not bury it.

Looking over the French boys grave the squad knew why they fought, so this would never happen again.

They left the city. As they continued inward the bombs and artillery got louder, but the squad talked and their morale was boosted.

Quoting Tom R. Oh gosh okay I know it was terrible he killed the boy and I don't support the nazis but really he asked for forgivness god would give it but not the soliders... Thats what makes me sick Thinking about how my Grandpa surrendered and said please forgive but was killed anyway makes me sad and mad.
Yeah, I know. Honestly, I wanted to let the German live but I had to think like most soldiers would if this happened.
