Generic Self Propelled Lego Crop Sprayer with motorised folding booms.
About this creation
I was in a bit of a rush to get this MOC recorded so that I can use some of the parts for my updated Stalwart, so apologies for the poor video.
Model has independant suspension all round, opening cab doors, 1 Medium motor for steering, 1 XL for drive and another Medium for opening and raising/lowering the booms. Works with many different lego tyres - choice depending on the crop being sprayed.
The boom mechanism (best seen in the video) part of this was the reason I made this model, the steering still needs a little work - I found it very hard to made a sprung high clearance machine that didn't want to dive into the ground under power. A lighter battery box with more weight towards the rear would help this. I will revisit this model at a later date.
very cleaver ont he boom mech, i muself strugle on steering with trucks or vehics, but, you could try some sort of portal axle that has gearign down a single colum, or chain for more clearance, would be interseting none the least

That looks really cool, and the fact that it can perform all those functions is even more impressive. Great work!
The first build of this model (without raising and lowering of the booms) only took about 8 hours, but testing showed the steering was not going to work so I had to rebuild, which took a lot longer. The steering is still not properly functional, I have given the wheels a degree of toe in so that when travelling forwards the model tracks true but I am not happy. Real sprayers tend to use hydrostatic drives to each wheel, which are supported on individual legs to give crop clearance, so solid axles are out. Any ideas welcome.
That is incredible! Great job with the sprayer arms extending-out, looks real! I have changed tires on these machines a few times, it's tricky because there isn't a good place to place the jack. Keep up the good work. Later!
