Heavily based off the Zenith series of wanzers from the Front Mission series of video games.
About this creation
IMS-MID-001 “Mechanized Infantry Device”

The Mechanized Infantry Device or MID, as it has come to be known has its origins in two mecha designs used during the Legion Wars of the Golden Ages. The Special Projects-Division 8 of the one-time Intergalactic Space Police Forces had developed two working humanoid fighting machines, the Humanoid Ground Fighter and the Humanoid Aerospace Fighter. As the names implied, both the HGF and the HAF types were optimized for certain combat scenarios.

At the close of the Golden Ages, Special Projects-Division 8 was disbanded when the entire Intergalactic Space Police Forces were sent before a galactic tribunal for war crimes. For years following the disbanding of the ISPF, the plans and prototypes for both the HGF and HAF languished, forgotten at Division 8’s secret site. They were uncovered by the precursors to Imperial Mecha Systems, nearly 200 years later, when IDY acquired many of ISPF’s holdings. The developers were astounded by the two prototypes, which though they had been configured to run off of an anti-ore reactor and thus had no power source, were otherwise intact.

The developers presented their findings to the group that would eventually form the Imperial Inner Circle. The Circle realized the fantastic potential that these fighting machines had for cementing their hold on their burgeoning empire. With an army of these mecha in hand, they would be able to easily overwhelm their unprepared opposition, further increasing their reach. The Circle immediately commissioned the research and development of both the HGF and HAF.

The developers initially met with frustration, first with attempting to revamp the design to accept a conventional thermonuclear fusion reactor, then with attempting to adapt the rest of the mecha’s systems to accept the new power input.

In the end, the developers had to cannibalize both the HGF and HAF prototypes in order to create a working prototype, the MID mk I.

The mk I was little more than a frame, but it more than met the developers’ expectations. It boasted extreme mobility in most environments, but would be able to mount heavier defensive and offensive equipment than any craft of a similar size.

The Circle, impressed with the results of the project, increased IMS’s funding, and ordered the production of an all-condition, mass-produceable Mechanized Infantry Device.

Only one MID mk I was produced. It is currently in storage at IMS’s headquarters.

The cockpit hatch is one of my favorite parts on this--it uses the battle droid arms to make the hatch flush with the main body. Its pretty cool.

This is one of my favorite mecha builds on Mocpages. It is reasonably middle weight, with the pilot sealed inside the armored torso chassis, seeing the world outside through the mechanized head. It looks tough and powerful while still seemingly agile, and the minimalist design makes it look very practical. My only question is how does it support itself on those Bionicle ball joints? I tried using those on my own mech of similar size, but it would consistently topple forward or backwards because of lack of friction holding it steady. It was unfortunate because the mech had a really good balance on its feet otherwise. I had to go back to Ratchet joints.

Quoting Eric Sophie The more I look the more I like this one.
The colors make it look very plain, but there is a lot going on with this one. Its actually one of my later builds that I did to fix problems with exposed hip joints and the cockpit opening on an earlier mech (which I'll post at some point--you'll easily be able to see the resemblance)

Quoting Areetsa C Still haven't gotten around to fixing the feet and lower legs, have you? Why are you reposting everything, did someone spam you?
Heyyyyy! Good to see you're still around, man! Someone absolutely annihilated my account, or so I'm told. One day I just couldn't log in, and people were asking me on flickr whether or not I had been hacked. Apparently, some strange stuff went on. In any case, Sean let me back in, but by the time he did, the whole page was denuded. So, now I'm reposting oldies and a few new ones too.

Excellent work! I like the legs and chain gun the best, though the feet seem a tad small.
