1962 Seagrave KB 1000 Pumper

About this creation

The cab-forward K model chassis was introduced by Seagrave in 1959. This was Seagrave’s first cab forward design. It featured Seagrave’s innovative tube steel frame. The cab was 72 inches wide.

The cab-forward K model was manufactured from 1959 to 1968. The K model was a very versatile chassis. It was used for pumpers, mid mount aerials, quads, quints and tractor-drawn aerials. The model K was superseded by the wider and lower P model in 1969. The P model was eight inches wider and three inches lower and featured other improvements.

Seagrave was founded in Detroit 1881 by Frederic Scott Seagrave, a Massachusetts native. In 1891 the business was moved to Columbus, Ohio. When FWD purchased Seagrave in 1963 production was moved to Clintonville, Wisconsin. Seagrave still produces fire apparatus.
