This is to all you haters out there who doubted my ability to build a decent, medium sized ship. I present to you, Hammer of Thyr, mk. II!
About this creation
Good morning, afternoon, or evening veiwer. I lied. I said my next MOC was gonna be the final POAM, but I was expecting this thing to be done by September, not in 12 hours like I did. And I just couldn't wait to share it with you people. Anyone remember my first COP MOC? The Hammer of Thyr and the 3rd Fleet? Yes, Hammer of Thyr, this dinky, tubby, little ship, shown below...

...How far I have come these past months...

I present to you with great pride, the Hammer of Thyr, re-imagined. I incorporated some design features of the old one into this new one, too. This was how the ship was supposed to be, but I had neither skill nor motivation to do this well back in March.

This thing has more guns than I care to count. KEW turrets, mostly for defense, small railguns for anti-ship operatinos, and of course...
Backstory is, after the original Hammer of Thyr got so outdated, they replaced it with the Harbinger line, but the Harbinger's themselves had some problems, like a lack of detail. Thyrendi engineers made a new ship, a fusion of Tarsis detail and heavy weapons with the repition and smoothness of Thyrenda.

Some uber MACs at the front. I remember a quote in the UNE, back from the days of Fed and Last Resort, how COP ships were "basically floating cities built around a gun the size of Texas". Well, this is a tribute to that quote. This main gun is waaaay to oversized, but still, it works. Nothing says COP like oversized guns, does it?

I even put greebles on the bottom.

Engines. Sorry about the titl, this thing's so heavy. I filled it up with solid bricks. That's probably why it weighs 2 pounds.

Look! Greebles!

And what's this? More greebles!

The bridge. A little nod to Lord Star-Blazer here, and a design refference to the original Hammer of Thyr.
Note: I know it's not smart to leave your bridge open to attack like this, but this thing looked really dumb without a bridge like it. It looked like some fish/slug/big grey barge without it.
So, heavily armored retractable plates can be lowered over the windows when in combat. Simple solution.

Cool veiw.

Hanger, it goes further back into the ship, this is just the entrance. Fighters launchs Viper style from the grill. Why? Because it's the smartest, fastest, easiest, and most fuel efficent way to launch a fighter.

Cool veiw #2.

You wanna mess with a crew who's not afraid to commit genocide against your planet with this thing? The crew, speaking of which, are top notch, all veterans from either the war against Earth, the war against the EOS, or the continual defense against the barbarian incursions on the Thyrenda Frontier, which the 3rd Fleet is the only defense against.

Good bye, home skillets! I'll be back with the final POAM within the week, or else my name's not Awesome-o-saurus the Not-So-Great! Meanwhile, the Hammer of Thyr, the new flagship of the 3rd Fleet, is headed to UNE space, to pwn noobs. The Harbingers will be accompanying it.
Influences/special thanks:
Ian MacDonald, who's ships never fail to make me say "I should really make a ship that big."
Gus Indo, who inspired me to do better.
Phaze, who talked to me just about the whole time it took to build this.
Fed/Dark Creator, because it was him who got me in the COP.
Andreas (you know who he is, or you should) of all people, who, from what I gather, thought I had some potential.
Alex Ruiz, who I know thought I had potential to do better.
And now I march onwards to greatness. This is not the uber ship I've been hinting at all summer, by the way. I'm afraid this over shadows it, though... Maybe...

So if you don't know (not to debate this here, feel free to delete these) how big your own ships are, how can you say how big ours should be? Anyway, my real question is, what caliber is the gun?
Well, it's no bigger than Battlestar Pegasus, which is about ISD sized. And it's no smaller than the Empire State Building tipped over on it's side. I don't have it exactly worked out. Caliber of gun? Big enough to smash things up real bad. |

|
I'd reckon it goes deep into the ship, so if you include the magnetic generator and all that, we're talking about maybe half the length of the ship perhaps? This can be calculated from Awe saying how long the ship is. |

could you make a minifig scale one on your own? if the micro scale gets 99, wait, 100 smilies then the full minifig scale will get you... 1000 maybe.... possibly over 9000
Probably. But a Minifig scale Hammer of Thyr... Well, you see the hangar? That's pretty much an entire nuclear aircraft carrier long. And you've seen a minifig scale carrier, right? That's like 20 feet. HoT at that scale would be massive, maybe too massive to even exist in this gravity without non-lego help. |

But Ian, it is like Stalinst Russia! It's a social monarchy, communism with an emperor. It's for all intents and purposes just like the Soviet Union, just the people have a little more faith in the COP than the people of the USSR did. For instance, even high up goverment officials beleive in the message of the Emperor. And while I was reading comments about the Bugs on the second video, a spider crawled out onto the table. Remembering Buenos Aires, I let it go instead of crushing it. |

Thanks for the info! Btw are there any larger sizes of this style of piece? I'm experimenting with different engine types for my SECRET PROJECT, oops, anyway, I'm needing something in the 8x8 range. If I have to, I'll just go with the 8x8 cylinders Kelso used on his Invisible Hand.
There might be... 64712 isn't the same style, but it does look kind of like an engine. It's 8x8 at the base but narrows to 6x6, from what I can tell by the picture. It might be easier just to use the 8x8's Kelso used then stick the large wheel I used here inside of it, if it is possible. It looks good in my mind.

Awesome, I need your help. You see, there's this girl at school that I like. I've known her for 2 years now, and I want to ask her out, because there's something special about her. She's beautiful, sweet, and funny. On top of all of that, she's always been there for me when I needed her. This is serious chizz, and I need encouragement to ask her!
I'm really not the right kind of person to ask, but if you need encouragement, I can give it. I have two styles, "Get off your lazy 455 and ask her, you insect larvae of no use!" and "You can do it, just think of all the good things that could happen if you ask! Don't be afraid, do it!" Which one do you prefer? Edited some things because the first reply went into moderation.

That is pretty cool, you never fail to impress! You know a wise person told me that a ship of that kind is better without a bridge, because a smart person would have the bridge inside somewhere safe from bombing...
Well, this thing looks like a barge without a bridge. Seriously, it does. But I came up with the idea so that these sets of uber blast sheilds close down over the windows when in battle. |

What ever happened to this theory: "Only a true f()()l or someone who trusts sheilds show their bridge on a warship." I'm guessing you trust your shields. Anywho, I counted this to be about 42 studs long including engines, is that right? Fantastic job!
Actually, that's the windows of the bridge. When in combat, thick blast sheilds lower down. And this thing looks bad without a bridge like that. Beleive me, the bridge tower part is an add-on. Otherwise, this looks like a barge and not a ship.

Quoting Master of LegoPuppets
You've definitely succeeded in building a decent, medium sized ship! I really like the bulky shape. It would have been better if you had made the buttom studless, but that's not a big deal. Keep this up! ~M
I actually planned to do that, but discovered I was out of light grey tiles. Maybe if I found enough I could. |

Quoting Indiana Pearce AKA Mr. Spock AKA Killing You

Together with my CPF series, all my grey has been exhausted. A HMP would require bricklink orders. |
