Macro Mini Jawa Sandcrawler
Too small for System, too big for Mini, I call this a Macro Mini.
About this creation
This sandcrawler was originally done for a contest at The objective was to create a MINI Sandcrawler, with a bonus if you could use the treads shown here. Not one to pass up a challenge, I did a few calculations and figured that to make it look good enough, the crawler would have to be much larger then I'd originally thought. So this Sandcralwer measures 7 inches by 4.5" by 2.5" and weighs in at 12 ounces. A bit big, yes, but then compare it to my full-size one. :)
Oh - and I won the contest. :)

Having studied the vehicle intensely when making my large-scale version, I pretty much knew the shape by heart.

I was even able to improve on a few things from my large one. Most notably the head now tilts up at a slight angle instead of being flat across the top.

The engine area was obviosly simplified. I personally think it now looks like it runs on two AAA Duracells. :)

Not a lot of room for detail on the top, but I feel that I captured it well enough.

The tilting of the head is achieved by putting the 2x2 round round-bottomed plates on. These also serve very nicely as the yellow-lit windows.

The angles for the back-third plates are another big difference between this and the large version. On the large, they tilt back from the bottom up. Here, they are angled in toward the back instead.

The treads caused a lot of frustration for a while, but eventually I decided that the only way I could make them was if they could not move. So no gears this time - I just wrapped them around thin technic lift-arms.

Yet another difference - this sandcrawler is mostly solid inside. With so many angles to achieve, it's really packed in tight.

Here you can see just how dwarfed it is by my large scale one.

Also note the difference in the head tilts, as I mentioned above.

Awesome. This is really good. I love small scale stuff. You need little figures to put around it. I've made tons if interested. Again great job.

I love it, really! I love Jawas and their Sandcrawlers and if there was one MOC on this website I could build, it would be this.
