And here's a little piece of (badly written) prose I wrote to accompany the pictures. Feel free to skip it.
"All your water are belong to us."
"Weather's on the change." Michael looked up at the infinity of sky beyond the window of the SUV. His background as a world class meteorologist gave him an uncanny ability to sense when a new "low" or "high" weather front was developing.
"Really dear? Seems settled to me." Carol had a brief glance upwards, to see for herself.
"Seems." Michael beamed a knowing smile at his wife.
They sat in silence as Carol sporadically lifted her right foot off the clutch and, with her left foot, soflty pushed down upon the acceleration. Allowing them to roll forwards at a snail's pace to close the gap between themselves and the car in front.
Michael opened the glovebox and rummaged around inside it for the tin full of sweets he knew was hiding in there, somewhere. Whilst he was leaning forward he couldn't help but have his gaze be drawn up towards the cause of the large, mysterious shadow that had suddenly loomed over them.
He was compelled to get out of the car, Carol applied the handbrake and followed. Both stood there slack-jawed, neither had the presence of mind to do anything, except stare heavenwards.
"What in the heck is that?!" Carol eventually asked.
"Some - some kind of... U.F.O.?" Michael replied, not really having any more of an idea as to what it was than his wife.
They watched on as something opened in the centre of the underside of whatever it was. An almighty roar followed and then the reservoir beside them reached a gravity defying arm up towards the huge floating object.
"What in the heck is it doing?"
"It - it's taking the water!"
Oooh! Dramatic! Ha ha!
Same picture as main one, pre-GIMPified.
Important angle, showing the curvature of the dam. I'll have you know the 33 4x10 plates used to achieve this effect were only assembled, as such, fleetingly, to avoid long-term damage to them.
Close up of U.F.O.
Better idea of the reservoir, up top.
Thanks for looking and, once again, good luck to y'all.
holy cow ! (no, I'm not indian) that's brilliant ! how could an entry as this be beaten, I think this one is better than your opponents' I hope you have more luck this year (unless you're playing against me :p)
That's superb, reminds me of 'V' (if you're old enough to remember it, if not a remake's on its way) with giant saucers hovering menacingly over cities. Unlucky on not advancing, but that's a build to be proud of.
Quoting coffe monkey .
so sad you didn't win man. :l i thought you would at least make it to round 5! well now... get working buster! you need to pump out a micro city in 3 days!!! lol jk. ;)
Round 5! lol. I'd've had to fight my way through Stacy Sterling and probably Eggplant to get there. Ah, well. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but like I said, there's always next year. Don't know about the Microcity, I'm off to continue my "studies" shortly, so won't be able to build much after that until around Christmas time.
Seriously awesome microscale! The best micro entry yet. Instant recognition is definitely a necessity for micro and you totally nailed it! Nice story as well.
Man, I'm a fan of both you guys, too bad one of you has to go down.
Woah, that really just blew my mind! You're sure to win against your opponent, for obvious reasons ;) Anyway, I love the curve of the dam, and the UFO looks like something straight out of those old 60's movies! Great work, and yet another awesome creation. Good luck, I'm sure that you'll go far in the MOColympics!
