The Tale of Tadith 3
Tadith, new member of the Brotherhood of the Blade got catched by guards after he helped to rescue Kerran, another brother. But more things seem to go on. The leader of the citywatch knows him...
Somewhere at the eastern border of the Rensval valley, a wild tribe is travelling in peace.
Unexpected, a group of trolls appears and starts its ambush.
No man survived the attack.
The chief turns to his men and speaks in a snorting troll language:
“Don’t waste your time on these poor animals. There are more interesting victims to rob. Now, as we succeeded to invade the valley unseen, we are free to take all poverty we can get. Maybe also making some slaves. But keep in mind: Don’t turn to the villages! Nobody knows about us and we don’t want to alarm any soldiers too early. The day of open war will come, we are a strong race, it’s our destiny to fight, but not yet! Not today! This secret mission is under my command!”
On another field not far away, Kerran watches a lonely rider on a hill. Kerran shouts: “Wait! HEY! I need help.”
The rider looks down.
Just as Kerran sees his face, he looks back surprised.
Kerran shouts lucky: “Oh! Oh, you must be Brik! Body, face, clothes, all fits to the description i have. Good to find you here. Kerran my name, member of the Brotherhood of the Blade. I came from Ferlon. I was sent to give an important information to you. But Crownies catched me. A guy called Tadith rescued me but now, they have him! We have to help!” Brik: “Where did you get information about me? How i should trust? Talk now! Who are you in real?”
Kerran: “Oh...one who brings justice upon this land. I’m a brother.” Brik: “Mh...you say the truth. I see, if someone is lying. An information? What’s it?” Kerran: “There’s a traitor in our line. At least, the other overseers think so. Someone collected names and other stuff from us. The first suspicion was that some of our hideouts got robbed unseen. We don’t know who but he have to be in your settlement. So, the citywatch had found out that i would come. There’s nobody i can trust this, except you. Also Tadith i didn’t tell. But he joined the fight to save me. We can’t let him alone. I’m just a beginner, but you are a master. Will you help?”
Meanwhile, the patrouil created a camp. Captain: “Vigilant. So, you think, you are the judge here? I will tell you something: Tomorrow morning, you will be judged by us, right at the market place. And your friends, the Brotherhood of the Blade, will follow soon.” Tadith listened surprised: “...your voice... I know you. We already met. You’re the contact.” Man smiles: “Yes, i helped you to join. I’m a brother....and also a traitor. My men attracted those primitive animalmen to attack the hideout in the mountains. I was informed, that a man will come to meet Brik, so we were able to catch him. It was me, who commanded you to break into the guard’s house. I hoped, you would kill my feckless boss, so that i can be promoted. Thanks. Additionally, the people will hear, that a brother is just a criminal murderer. And when nobody trust or support you anymore, i’ll have all names of members and locations of their hideouts soon. Then, i’ll judge Brik and the eastern settlement is free for us. The rest follows. Surely, the king will honour my efforts grateful. You will help to destroy the Brotherhood and the funniest thing is, they don’t even know you. It was always me, who trained new members for Brik. He trusted me, so i was able to collect knowlegde for weeks. The citywatch is well informed about your little family. Too bad, that you can’t tell anyone, because in some hours you’ll hanging on a cord.”
Brik and Kerran observate the camp for some hours. Brik: “Mh, they decided to travel back tomorrow. They’re in majority, a fight wouldn’t be easy. It’s possible but i can’t promise. But if we want to help Tadith, we have to rescue him tonight. Kerran: „And if not?“ Brik: „He’ll die. If all is true what you said and he’s still alive, they want to judge him right on the market place to make an example of what happens to those, who support any vigilants. They must have enough information about us to announce a fight against the Brotherhood officially. We have to find out, what and who exactly. Fortunately, the whole citywatch is out here. The traitor nor his information must not leave the city. If we want to save our brothers, we have to kill everybody. We start at the morning, when the last guard is tired and the first still sleeping.”
Brik knocks the guard down and Kerran helps Tadith to escape...
...but then a whisper sounds.
Suddently, all men stand up and snatch their weapons...
Captain: “Ahhrr! Finally. Die Brik!”
Tadith graps his crossbow: “NOOO!”
The shot hits the captain’s throat directly.
Brik “Ok. Run into the forest! We have no chance here.”
The men follow them but suddently, a troll cross the way...
A fight between the armies starts..
Brik: “Huh? Where did they come? Mh, two problems solving each other.” Tadith: “Wait, we can’t let them alone. We should join the battle!” Kerran: “He’s right. The sixth tenet: If it is in your power to prevent harm, do so. The Trolls will rob everyone they’ll met.” Tadith: “Maybe i don’t know who Arralek was and i don’t also know Jin’tak, but i know why i’m here. We are the only word of justice this land can hope for. We punish those, who wronged others, we prevent harm where we can and where the king fails. We won’t let some honorable guards get murdered by these biests. Because we are the Brotherhood of the Blade! Attack!!!”
A bloody combat happens...
... and only 3 people survive.
Later, in the Brotherhood’s hideout...
Brik: “Tadith, you are new but in the one mission, you got, many of our tenets were broken by your youthful decissions!! As Overseer of the eastern settlement i should punish or better, relegate you!” Kerran: “For his plea, all guards, who found out who we are and had secret information about us, are dead. The whole team used their positions for corruption and torturing, so they deserved it. Tadith unmasked the traitor under us, also dead now. If the people find them, trolls will be responsible for their death. He saved my life. And if we weren’t hunted, the troll rogues wouldn’t been discovered. They were able to rob dozens of villagers or kidnapp farmers for slavery. We prevent lots of harm as the sixth tenet says.” Brik: “That’s right. You served us well and i have to honor that. But for future, less chaos, please.”
Tadith: “I promise. I’ll always serve you, master, if you call.” Brik: “Stand up. And be officially welcome in the Brotherhood of the Blade.”
And so, Tadith learned his first lessons, proved immense fighting skills and solved a secret conspiracy against his new family. This was the Tale of Tadith.

Nice story! Your English is way better than my German. Did you use photoshop for thiss or another program? Load some of these great stories in my group, Stories and Comics. We need some new stuff in that group.
Very nice. The spelling and grammar bugged me (because Im like that), but since you're foreign, I overlook it :P The story was great. Very original, some nicely sized events, and it still fits very well with my plotlines. Im glad you're waiting until Im done to make more. However, it is possible that when Im done, most BotB comics will be flashbacks.... maybe. Guess you'll just have to wait and see, huh?
