HMHS Britannic construction Part 1 (25th October 2009)
Part 1 of the construction progress of HMHS Britannic, the sister ship to Olympic & Titanic
About this creation
In August 2008 I decided that after four years the RMS Olympic needed a facelift. I was unhappy with the way parts of it looked and so took it apart and put it back together again. In this 'restoration' I changed the look of the bow and stern, added more lights, reshaped the boat deck and the bridge.

Now I am going to rebuild the HMHS Britannic, using the refurbished RMS Olympic as a guide. Over the next weeks I am going to put photographs of the Britannic's development.

At the time of writing (25th October 2009) construction has just started on Britannic with the bottom two layers finished.

A close up view of the Britannic's keel. Just like the Olympic the keel is two plates deep with dark grey plates used on the inside

The Britannic will, when completed, be the same width and length as the Olympic

With the Olympic as a guide I copied the same pattern for the bottom two layers. Sloped bricks will eventually shape the bow and stern with regular plates and bricks being used for the hull

The RMS Olympic in the background along with some modifications of its own, notably smoke coming from the funnels.

Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. Also like the addition of the ice-cream cones to the funnel for the smoke-effect
