A 30's era car, based on no particular model but inspired by many.
About this creation
I decided to convert my small street layout (based mainly on the 3 modular houses) to a 1930s scene, complete with mafia. I grabbed the Shanghai Chase set to get a good car to move the mafioso around in, but I decided it was too blocky for my liking, and built my own mafia-mobile. This is based on no particular car, but draws obvious influence from a few.
I started at the front wheel wells, since I figured that'd be the trickiest part. I did a lot of Brickshelf and MOCPages browsing for inspiration, but didn't find anything that jumped out at me, so I ended up spending a lot of time just getting this thing started. The front fender is lifted from the fire truck in the Fire Brigade set.
I really wish that rear mud guard piece was available in light gray. That is my biggest problem with the model, honestly.
Tommy gun, trench sweeper, Chicago typewriter, Thompson model of 21 submachine gun. That's how you know they're mafia, you see.
This shot came out a little blurry, but it shows the sweep of the front pretty well.
Inside! Seating for three.
Guns by Brickarms. Top quality stuff, folks.
Another slightly blurry shot, but I included this one for comparison's sake.
This shot was taken under a more natural, diffused light. I think it looks better overall, but the details in black don't show as well.
Still my favorite angle for showing off the front sweep.
Finally, a slightly broken apart shot to show how it all goes together!
Great style, awesome choice of LEGO pieces. I SALUTE the BRICKARMS, I use them and honor them. I mean it's just a toy, right.
I must make me one of those. You've inspired me to try a car like that. KEEP 'EM BUILT!!
