My official entry into Shannon Young's vignette contest. And, since the Alien creature is one of the baddest monsters of all time, I figured I'd post for Halloween.
About this creation
The vignette, only slightly better lit...
Fourth dimension commentary:
Since first buying the set with the little yellow exo-suit, I thought,'Man, that looks like it came straight out of Aliens!' After seeing the spectacular vig that Heather posted and seeing the degree of talent yet to post, I knew I had to step my game up. I had multiple great idea's before deciding on this, but lack of pieces and colors forced me in this direction. The suit alone was relatively easy but the Alien gave me fits! Three days of staring at pieces trying to 'will' them together in a shape that would be at least passable. The end result is pretty satisfying, so I hope you like it. In the name of 'full disclosure', the tail piece is shortened but was already in that condition(a casualty of my youth); no other pieces are modified in any way.
I would like to take this opportunity to to thank Shannon Young for having this contest and putting up actual swag for prizes. This alone earns him the phrase 'Shannon Rocks!' To all other entrants, I wish you the best of luck.~H
I messed around and made a power-loader and ripley a while back, but never posted it as I was struggling with the alien queen - I'm glad as this puts my efforts to shame! very nice work and cool presentation too.
I like it

Aah, I can just see that bug coming out of my closet. Great creation.
I was looking at some of the entries for Young's vig contest, and yours is truly fantastic ! Cool movie, and both the mecha and the Alien looks great. Very nice lightning in the main pic. Great work, good luck !

That Alien is PERFECT! Excellent build Hans! Hope you had a happy Halloween.
Thanks for the kudos, I hope it stays in Shannon's head for the next two months...Had a great Halloween of rednecks, alcohol and fireworks! I know, your asking, 'what, no firearms?' Maybe next year, maybe next year.~H
In the interest of full disclosure, I have to say that as I see this on Halloween it takes me back to '87, I was 12, trick-or-treating with my friends, going back to spend the night at one of their houses and watch Aliens, which none of us had seen yet, on the VCR with all the lights off, play Nintendo, and eat candy all night. Great times. Could hitting a perfect unintended nostalgic note be your ticket to earning swag? There's still two months left in the contest, we'll just have to wait and see...
