Baunmaald Mining Day 36 pt. 2
After Grandpa Jo bestowed a favor upon Horace, they both awaited the arrival of the mission leader Aayla.
About this creation
The five minutes it took Aayla to arrive had passed in absolute silence. Horace kept pondering what was going to happen. It's absolutely impossible for the Kharakians to be in the dark. They are more than likely going to perform raids anytime, and Horace was hoping, however horrible this thought was, that the raids would happen during this mission because the Kharakian Raiders would be away from the desert. As long as they were gone, the mission would be successful and the marine crew would not have to get involved.

Some of the weaponry and equipment featured may be from one of the following: BrickForge, BrickArms, or The Little Arms Shop.

All captions are below the pictures.

Sure enough about 5 minutes later, Aayla and her driver showed up; they were heavily armed.

Aayla swiveled her chair to face the group.

With a quick flick of her wrist she threw up her visor and introduced herself.

Aayla: "It's good to meet all of you, I am Aayla. I am aware of the danger that lies ahead of us. Crossing the Kharakian desert is extremely dangerous when the Kharakian raiders are patrolling. With advanced equipment given to them by the ruling Emperors on Ikenda IV, they are able to find us easily."

As Aayla was explaining the situation, Captain Ra, Lieutenant Anubis, and Lieutenant Sobek joined the conversation.

Aayla: "We have sent a crew ahead of us to attempt to distract any raiders that may be in the area. They are also heavily armed and are able to fend for themselves. This however means that we are down two of our best soldiers and many of our other troops belong to the war."

Horace: "It only makes sense then that you need our help, but how can you be sure that there are even Kharakian Raiders in the desert when the first crew goes through. There is absolutely not way to know who is out there. You could both get into very big trouble!"

Aayla: "It is a risk I'm willing to take!! My home is Ikenda IV! I don't have anything if this war fails. I will have absolutely no culture, no history, no family! The end justifies the means."

After a brief pause, Aayla composed herself and continued.

Aayla: "I'm sorry to get out of character, but this war is very close to me. I am also afraid that I have to cut this conversation short because we are on a scheduled time limit. The plan is to cut across the northern dunes and keep a low profile amongst them. The Kharakian Raiders don't have access to satellite imaging, but the Emperors of Ikenda IV may have sent satellites to assist the Kharakians. Another theory is that if there are satellites tracking us, the Emperors will only give the Kharakians as much information as they need to stop us. I've uploaded the route on your datapad. It is time for us to leave."

Horace: "Good luck Aayla, and I hope that everything goes well."

Grandpa Jo: "Aayla, take care out there. We need you and we will be waiting for you back at the plantation."

Grandpa Jo: "I know I've brought this upon all of you, but it affects all of you directly. Captain Ra, are you and your men prepared to defend my troops, so that we can liberate an entire planet?"

Captain Ra: "It is our duty to make sure this crew is absolutely safe and secure, and that can only be done by ensuring the success of this mission."

Grandpa Jo: "I appreciate everything you guys are willing to put on the line for myself, and my crew. It is now time for me to return to the farm. Chewie Valdez let me know that the Orba Flower harvest would be within the next couple days, and we need the nectar from the flowers to create the healing paste in the frost guns that we are supplying to the troops on Ikenda IV. Good luck, hope you won't need it."

And with that Grandpa Jo left the mining site.

Lt. Sobek: "Listen, Horace is seriously worried about this and I think it's freaking him out. In fact, I'm really nervous about this war. Ikenda IV is so close to Baunmaald that interplanetary war would not be unfeasable, and not be extremely costly. We are extremely outnumbered and corporate would not be able to get reinforcements here, or even evacuate in time if war broke out. I'm gonna do our daily run of the perimeter, I'll report back in in an hour."

While Lt. Sobek was out doing his perimeter patrol, Lt. Anubis and Captain Ra had time to discuss the obvious matters of the day.

Lt. Anubis: "I can't believe corporate wouldn't let Horace know what kind of trouble he was getting into."

Captain Ra: "It was probably due to lack of intelligence. If you recall, Grandpa Jo said that the Emperors on Ikenda IV were paying off big corporations to stay out of their business, he didn't say anything about the Emperors being involved in politics on this planet. I'm pretty sure corporate didn't know about the Kharakian Raiders and how they tax all the desert cities and captures slaves to be sold to the ruling Emperors of Ikenda IV."

Lt. Anubis: "Go figure. It is too expensive to explore a planet and make sure it is safe enough to mine. There are very few cities on this planet and many are too unorganized to even offer safe exploration on the planet for the original drop teams. Heck, it's even extremely expensive to fire the prospecting probes."

The day was winding down and the crew was harvesting what rubies were still revealed on the site.

Isaac was putting his saw up to a ruby when he heard a noise from behind him.

It was a noise that Horace noticed too.

Out of nowhere another cycle pulled up and startled Horace.

The man driving the cycle quickly got off and grabbed a suitcase that was on the back of the bike.

Driver: "Horace, my name is Relic. I am a special agent working for Grandpa Jo and I work in espionage and information trade. I am the reason for the current mission Aayla has undertaken. The tapes were discovered when I stumbled upon an old security camera in one of the towns on Baunmaald. I quickly transferred them over to tape and sent them away. The propaganda on those tapes is priceless and could very well turn the tide of the war."

Relic: "In order to make up for any trouble we have brought upon you today and for compensation in accepting the mission, we have the 300,000 in credits as promised."

Relic: "I cannot stay any longer for I have another important mission to fulfill. It was an honor to finally meet you; Grandpa Jo speaks very highly of you."

And with that, the man who referred to himself as Relic sped away on his cycle.

Horace was bewildered and his head was spinning. He just needed some rest, and the crew probably did too. Horace figured that it was in the best interest of the entire crew that the operation be halted until the tapes are safely in transit to Ikenda IV.

So Horace ordered the crew to finish harvesting what rubies they had revealed with the acid from the Heavy Miner's blasters, and to pack up and take some much needed time off.

Quoting Christian Schlichting Using that small amount of bricks, your storyline is very good. But can you tell me how you did that fat line at end of your comics, please? Oh, and join Tall Tales award group if you like, a comic award for moc pages, voting is already running, the final one starts the next days.
Hey Christian, thanks for the invite. I posted my comics, hopefully not too many, but I noticed other people did. To get the fat line you must type <hr_/> WITHOUT THE UNDERSCORE. That will create the big line and a space underneath it automatically. Make sure you put it on its own line.
