HMHS Britannic Construction Part 2 (13th November 2009)
Phase 2 of the Britannic's construction
About this creation
The Britannic has now moved onto the finishing touches. Containing 20 LED it illuminates just like the Lego RMS Olympic. I have used the Olympic as a guide in building the Britannic and as such there are many similarities between the two ships.

Below are a series of photographs documenting the building of the Britannic:

This is the earliest part of this stage. Here the Britannic has a large portion of the bow complete and portholes are in place. Alongside the ship are the red crosses that will eventually be incorporated into the hull.

With the red crosses in place along with the green stripe that bisects the hull, construction will move shortly to the superstructure. The biggest challenge here was to ensure the lights were aligned with the portholes.

In this photo construction has now moved onto the superstructure. Along with the portholes it too will be illuminated hence the clear bricks and the void in the middle of the ship where the LEDs will be placed.

A close up view of the bridge. The gap in the middle will be filled with a dark red plate denoting the Britannic's Transport Identification number.

With most of the superstructure completed work can now progress to the finishing touches such as funnels, masts and lifeboats.

The Britannic in its current state. Most of the work has been completed. All that requires now is the installation of the rigging and lifeboats. Next to the Britannic, on the right of the photo, is the Olympic. Built in 2004 it has served as a guide to the construction of Britannic. More pictures of the Olympic can be seen on its own page.
