Mauser Karabiner 98 Kurtz
The Mauser 98 was introduced into Germany in 1898 with a 29 1/2 in. barrel. it was later shortened to the Karabiner Kurtz(23 1/2 in). The rifle fires 7.92 x 57 mm cartriges at 2300 fps. the max ranges is close to the mile mark, and kills have been recorded at more than a mile with the long rifle. Considered the father of all modern rifles, more than 95% of all modern bolt designs are based on the Mausers. The incredible safety, reliability, and accuracy have made this one of the most famous, popular rifles of all time.
About this creation
The bolt, completely out for cleaning. The whole assembly is very realistic, and strong.

The bolt can be drawn back, locked, and taken out for cleaning. the bullet is fake.

This is the rear sight elevated to about 1200 m

Aiming down sight. This is a simple 1x2 flat using the studs w/ the front post in between. The rear sight can elevate up to 2000 m just like the real thing.

This is the exposed part of the barrel, complete with the slip on clasp and front sight.
